'Sarkozy: Netanyahu is a liar, I cannot see him anymore'

French President Nicolas Sarkozy allegedly called Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu a liar in a conversation with the US president, French website Arret Aur Images reported on Monday night.

I cannot see Netanyahu anymore, he is a liar, the report cited Sarkozy as saying.

You're fed up, US President Barack Obama responded, but I have to deal with it all day.

According to the website, the comments were overheard by journalists during a meeting between Obama and Sarkozy at the G20 summit meeting on November 3. A technical failure allowed the journalists to listen to the private conversation on their monitors. They were then asked to refrain from reporting what they had heard.

Report: Sarkozy calls Netanyahu 'liar'

Microphones accidently left on after G20 meeting pick up private conversation between US, French presidents. Sarkozy admits he 'can't stand' Israeli premier. Obama: You're fed up with him? I have to deal with him every day!

French President Nicolas Sarkozy reportedly told US President Barack Obama that he could not "stand" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and that he thinks the Israeli premier "is a liar."

According to a Monday report in the French website "Arret sur Images," after facing reporters for a G20 press conference on Thursday, the two presidents retired to a private room, to further discuss the matters of the day.

.....The conversation then drifted to Netanyahu, at which time Sarkozy declared: "I cannot stand him. He is a liar." According to the report, Obama replied: "You're fed up with him, but I have to deal with him every day!"

The remark was naturally meant to be said in confidence, but the two leaders' microphones were accidently left on, making the would-be private comment embarrassingly public.

.....The surprising lack of coverage may be explained by a report alleging that reporters present at the event were requested to sign an agreement to keep mum on the subject of the embarrassing comments.

A member of the media confirmed Monday that "there were discussions between journalists and they agreed not to publish the comments due to the sensitivity of the issue."

9. Obama and Sarkozy squirm after gaffe over Netanyahu
Obama and Sarkozy squirm after gaffe over Netanyahu
by Adrian Blomfield and Jon Swaine, The Daily Telegraph November 8, 2011 5:47 PM

.....During a discussion on Israeli-Palestinian policy, Mr Sarkozy gave an unapologetic assessment of his views of Mr Netanyahu, saying: "I cannot bear him, he's a liar."

Damagingly his pro-Israel credentials, the U.S. president did not demur.

Instead he exacerbated his sin in the eyes of pro-Israeli Americans by retorting: "You may be sick of him, but me, I have to deal with him every day."

The exchange was gleefully seized on by Republicans who have accused Mr Obama of "throwing Israel under the bus" for his past criticism of Mr Netanyahu's settlement policy in East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

John McCain, the Republican Senator for Arizona who Mr Obama defeated in the 2008 U.S. presidential election, suggested that the comments were indicative of the administration's antipathy towards Israel.

"I happen to be a great admirer of Prime Minister Netanyahu," he told Fox News.

10. Bad translation in first version
"I cannot see" means "I cannot stand". It's an expression. Je ne peux pas voir means to not be able to stand something or someone or to actually greatly dislike someone or something (you dislike someone so much you can't stand to look at them).
