Cain, Sexual harassment/assault and Support
I have a theory as to why the right is still supporting Cain and it's as simple as this: They perceive the left to be picking on him. The more we "pick" on him, the more they will support him. It's really not that difficult to figure out. It doesn't matter what he's done, especially since I bet the majority of those supporting him see the accusations as less harassment and more about a guy trying to get a "date."

It shouldn't be surprising the Teabaggers have only a few criteria to support a candidate and if the "left wing liberal media" picks on a candidate, it must mean they're good.

1. a guy "trying to get a "date." with WIFE sitting at home. family values anyone?
they preach family values. they attack gays defending marriage. they dont get to be a guy trying to get a date, while wife sits at home

2. Sure they can, as long as they perceive that the liberal media is attacking him
I firmly believe that this is what this is all about.

9. And By "Family Values", They Only Care About the Fetus
Once the kid is out of the womb, they're on their own. My advice to kids is just stay in the womb.

3. It also fits with true republican values
In the republican world, this is how they expect women to be treated, as sex objects!

4. Bingo!
We don't really matter, so it's not really an issue for them to take umbrage with.

7. both parties give "their guy" a pass on sexual harassment/assault
Support for Clinton and attacks on his accusers before many facts were know was disgusting. Prominent Democrats called accusers "trailer-park trash" and said they were paid off by the right. Other people said they'd "gladly put on the presidential kneepads" and Democrat voters laughed and gave pretty much full support to Clinton before the facts were known.

A number of people here have focused on the outcome with Clinton ("he only lied about sex"). But a lot of people forget or are ignoring the initial reaction by both parties on multiple accusations - the reaction was somewhat divided along party lines (the divide is more partisan here but not substantially different). It's a mirror image of what's happening with Cain and it's not fair to all the women considering going to HR or authorities about their own situation. An honest discussion then and now could be a help to many women but neither side is being fair to either the men or women involved.

13. I do remember Edwards
And, like Clinton people seem to remember the final result, not the initial days. Posts like "I call Bullshit. This is not Edwards!" (http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3762177). Do a search - there are many more. Until there was proof, he got a pass because it was "just a political attack". There are a lot more replies than I remember like "I don't believe it but lets wait and see". But there were also a lot of people giving him a pass and if Hunter had claimed it was true but proof hadn't come out we'd still be talking about how Hunter lied.

Weiner got a pass until he lied too much. I'd guess the opinion here now is that he resigned, so no big deal. But for for a couple of weeks it was "he didn't do it, but so what if he did send an unsolicited picture of his junk to women - they should delete it and move on. one time isn't harassment".
