OccupyKC will keep a winter camp @ Liberty Memorial. Tents adapting and visitors are welcome. |
|
I'm occupying peppermint ice-cream & buckwheat waffles after a wild WONDER -full night at Liberty Memorial - OccupyingKCTogether with thunder amongst the trees and lightning around the memorial . . . and visitors this last week from Denver, Philadelphia, Eureka Springs, Portland OR, Oakland, Lawrence, and some very nice ladies from Village Church. Tent numbers going up slowly.
And, better yet, the only water my little Kelty took last night was that which was on me from standing outside to eat pork-chop potato-with-milk-gravy skillet & sauteed sweet peppers, green beans & onions, before GA with all occupiers. Slept warm, well, and dry despite of the city noise and stormy weather. One of the best OKC friends nights at the memorial ever, wind and all.
McD's-girl breakfast bringer this a.m. admired my 4 bumper stickers; I said Danny, Mary & I were part of OccupyKC and this sweet coffee, car-hop cheered and told the 99% story loud and clear. I love strong women!
Red is showing us how to do best for the tents in winter with big tarps, heavy tent-stakes, camping rope, and wooden rake handles. A soup kettle of hamhock and beans is started for dinner tonight. OccupyKC will stay the winter and I'm very proud of this decision. There will be a women's group ASAP and the camp actually shows how the group is adapting and learning about itself through sharing the work of camping.
Lots of other activities going on! I'm very proud.

1. I called the number listed on its site and received a recording to leave my name and number... |
|
It was last Saturday. I was going grocery shopping and wondered what I could pick up for them and wondered what they were in the most need of.
I left my name and number but never heard back. There's a long list of food and items they need, does anyone know what they could use right away?
Thanks :hi:

2. Sorry about the ph # website is moving to be a .org instead of .com. |
|
The .com was subverted from within the group by someone who fancies themselves "anonymous" probably because they gave us a fake name and some other troubles. Mislead some pretty vulnerable people; I'm sad to say, but we're getting it sorted out. The website version 1.1 will be occupykc.org - soon I hope. The group is experiencing growing pains but I feel certain we can do this thing. Come see us. Fridays are our slumber party, covered-dish, music, open-house nights. I'm going to make pan-style country cornbread for this Friday.
Soup makings are best. Please no soft breads (except Lamars style donuts). Fresh vegs, potatoes, onions, garlic, celery, dry beans, brown rice. Plane frozen chicken.
