1. I don't think it's enough. They still want to let JoePa finish out the season
And so far it's been a great football season for Penn State with a definate bowl bid, so no one wants to shake the status quo because they know this might be the last season of raking in the big bucks from the football program for awhile.

Personally Joe should step down now. There is solid proof that he knew his friend and former defensive coach was diddling underage kids and yet Joe did nothing to protect those kids. He put his friendship with Sandusky and the football program ahead of the needs of the child.

Paterno should resign today, but even I know that won't happen. And even the Patriot News, the paper I read for 20 years, still defended Paterno even when trying to disgrace him - they said that he should stay throughout the rest of the season which means even they want a PSU Bowl Bid to report too.

3. I grew up on the edge of Happy Valley, PA (Penn State region)
I'll be honest, I use to cheer on University of Pittsburgh just to annoy all the Penn State fanatics but that was me just being an obnoxious kid. But I always thought that Penn State was a class act and honestly it will be again. But they need to clean house now and the university needs to send the message 'We should have put the child before the football program'

6. I so agree, and this is going to hurt Penn State something terrible. At
least clean house and send the message that Penn State is still the class school it has always been. I'm sad for all concerned but heartbroken for the children involved.

5. I agree that he should go, but I'm still very torn on WHEN
Yes, what happened is horrific and heads HAVE to roll. Spanier should go too.

HOWEVER, Paterno has been there for DECADES. I still don't think they should just kick his ass out the door. His service to the University should mean something.

I don't know, this sucks all around. I guess because Paterno has just been the coach MY ENTIRE LIFE and most of my parents' lives, I'm not ready to see him go, even if I do absolutely agree he should be held accountable and SHOULD have done more.

11. This is what happens when any sport is considered "king"
I saw a report this week about PSU athletics, and apparently it's untouchable. Football, especially, is all that matters, nothing is to taint or touch that program.

That mindset has got to change. Nothing is above scrutiny; nothing is above oversight; nothing is so good or sacrosanct that the rules and standard expectations of legality, morality, and decency don't apply.

It is sad if JoePa ends his spectacular career on this sordid note. But it all could have been avoided, simply by protecting young children and not a sports program. There's nothing he can really do now but to tender his resignation.

4. Not good enough.
They both need to step down NOW if there are any hopes of retaining/rebuilding the integrity of the school.

Only way I would support them staying on one more day is if that time is spent grilling each and every last one of them as to the location of Ray Gricar, the DA who mysteriously disappeared in 2005 after failing to prosecute Sandusky.

7. The charges have been out there since 1998.
I'm amazed the press never looked into this before now. Where have they been?

9. Why should this guy get a season of honor and admiration?
Will fans really honor and admire him, will the press actually treat him as a decent member of society?
