Thank you for letting me put my money in your bank. |

Although my bank backed off, my bank was one which was going to charge for debit cards. In the letter which informed me this was happening, let me know SOME types of accounts would be charged the fee, so I checked to see which would and which would not. Basically, if you already were charged for the privilege of having the particular type of account you have, you would not be charged and if you had an account which required a minimum balance you were not charged but free no minimum accounts would be charged. These included student accounts, senior accounts and ultra basic accounts for those forced to have an account because you were forced to have direct deposit by someone. I found this to be odd, the customers who most likely couldn't afford the fee were charged the fee. Also, when I opened an account at a credit union they ran a credit check, so I asked my big bank if they did the same and guess what they did, but they explained they did have ways to "help" those with bad credit, such as associating the account with one of their savings accounts which locked a sum of money in their bank (to withdraw below that specific sum you must wait 10 days for all checks to clear), or having a "co-signer" who would guarantee the account for 1 year with no overdrafts. No wonder once I have one direct deposit posted in the credit union I am telling them where to stick their bank.
