(Mississippi) Uterine Control Act Fails |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-08-11 10:34 PM by LetTimmySmoke
With 49% of precincts reporting, the Uterine Control Act has been defeated 42%-58%.
A win on social issues in MS of all places. The religious right got served.

9. LOL - those christians in the privacy of the booth said |
|
"oh shit, what if ..." and voted "No".
Sanity nothing - the righties, the conservatives, the faux christians have been about themselves and it dawned on them that this could prevent them from doing so much they believe to be their right.

10. THERE IS A GODDESS!!!!! |

I have goosebumps. The people of MS didn't let me down. What a day!!!! I'm HAPPY after an election!!!! It's been a long time since I could say that.
Regarding OH...I'm dying to see if there was a bigger voter turnout today than last year when Kashit was elected.
Happy days!!!!

33. That's really good news. But that 41% still is a little unnerving. |
|
That's not an insignificant number of our fellow human beings who feel the need to enforce their personal beliefs on others. If only they could channel that concern for life into things that really made life better - like education, clean environments, healthy food, affordable healthcare, economic fairness, overcoming poverty, alternative energy sources...just to name a few. Even if the premise in their belief was right, this measure wouldn't do a damn bit of good.

34. My grandparents left MS after World War I. |
|
after they got their master's degrees from Mississippi A&M. They went to Texas which is why I landed here.
I took my grandmother back to Kosciusko for her 60th high school reunion, when I was young in the 1970s.
After I saw what her relatives said about black people, I decided Texas was a bastion of liberalism, comparatively speaking.
I thought, "Wow, they don't even think black people are people. I wasn't raised that way."
