Polling showed gender split on Mississippi personhood vote
According the PPP poll, 48 percent of men support the “Personhood Amendment” and 42 percent of men oppose Mississippi’s proposed amendment. On the other hand, 42 percent of women support the “Personhood Amendment” and 46 percent of women oppose it.

I was curious to see if there was any polling on the subject. Now I'm not sure what's worse, that more men were in favor of it (by 6 points), or that 42% of women were willing to harm their own rights.

If anyone has any other polls on this result I'd be interested in seeing them.

1. I'm interested in knowing how many (or few) of its supporters actually understood it.
How many actually understood how far-reaching this was?

2. That suggests that women turned out to vote
way more than men.

3. It really bothers me that over 40% support that crap. Very scary. nt

4. Those cretin Pro-Amendment males would have an epiphany....
once they found out their amorous activities were curtailed due to a ban on birth control methods. As to the supporting women, well, I guess that also speaks to the overall quality of education in Mississippi. Ignorance can often lead to voting against ones own interests.

Thank heavens the majority of MS voters saw through this crap. :toast:

6. Much closer than I predicted.
That law would have made it legal for men to forcibly burden women with babies, because there would have been no exception for rape. Ok, the foo might have gotten a few years in prison (rape sentences are notoriously short) and additionally rendered the woman broke from legal fees.

It would have literally turned women into property.

7. Then, too, there would be so much more child support to pay.
So many more shotgun weddings.

Not to mention the expense of shipping your girlfriend out of state to get that abortion before your wife finds out.

Yeah, men would have it great with that bill.

8. Do you really think they would be smart enough to think of unintended consequences?
Obviously not or it would not be on the ballot.
