LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan's largest teachers' union fought back against Republicans who control state government, playing a key role in the effort to recall a state lawmaker from office for the first time since 1983.
The union said the vote reflects backlash over Republican policies adopted since Gov. Rick Snyder became governor this year and Republicans gained control of both legislative chambers.
"This is historic," said MEA spokesman Doug Pratt. "It's more than just a victory for the voters in the 51st (District) who feel Scott hasn't been representing their interests. It's a victory for every Michigan voter who feels misled by Republicans this year."
Scott, who remains in office at least until the election results are certified, said he wasn't anticipating a recount and that "the community needs to move on."
Sorry if this is a dupe, I just woke up to find this and don't see it posted anywhere.
BTW.... WOOT!!!!
