2. As a former professional pollster, I can tell you "BS"

I mean that politely, of course. But businesses that do polling depend on having accurate track records for predicting outcomes to sustain their paying client base. Some pollsters play games, of course, for PR/propaganda purposes. But most are reliable. It's simply never going to be an exact science.
