New Alabama gov: Only CHRISTIANS are his family.
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley told a church crowd just moments into his new administration that those who have not accepted Jesus as their savior are not his brothers and sisters, shocking some critics who questioned Tuesday whether he can be fair to non-Christians.

"Anybody here today who has not accepted Jesus Christ as their savior, I'm telling you, you're not my brother and you're not my sister, and I want to be your brother," Bentley said Monday, his inauguration day, according to The Birmingham News.

The Anti-Defamation League on Tuesday called Bentley's remarks shocking.

"His comments are not only offensive, but also raise serious questions as to whether non-Christians can expect to receive equal treatment during his tenure as governor," said Bill Nigut, the ADL's regional director.

6. More than that. A lot of denominations don't even believe all Christians are Christians.
I remember growing up in Mississippi and having very serious discussions with my friends about which denominations were truly saved, and of course concluding that only a few were.

Ole Governor Bubba probably figures he's sib to about a quarter of the state, and the rest need some thumb-screwing to bring them correct with the Lord. Or some kind of screwing.

45. Hell, there's plenty in Mississippi down here who believe Catholics are gonna burn.

The only thing some of these whack jobs haven't done is park truck bombs in front of Catholic churches and synagogues like it's Northern Ireland.

13. Not ones who would blow up
or burn down Buddhist temples. We don't have people who go about beating up Buddhist because they are not Christian. I am in Northern California and we have many kinds of people here, including many Asians. Those who are crazy fundamentalists are in the very tiny minority here. Yes, we have crazies here, but most of them are from OUT OF TOWN.

Right now, there's a frightening possibility that even California could fall to the crazies within a generation.

Northern California! The most beautiful and civilized place on the planet.

I would rather move to Antarctica than even make a short visit to the US southeast. The whole area gives me the creeps.

Since their brains are bigger. But they don't have hands and speech as we know it.

In college I saw Dr. John Lilly speak. He was one of the first researchers with dolphins. Cool dude, but very strange.

20. I will always recommend threads like this. Because this shit needs to stop!!
I don't know why elected officials feel the need to pander to one religion or another, but this outward expression of "just us" has led this country to where it is today -- divided, and stuck in the ditch.

they suck all the good out of anything they're involved in - whether it is politics or religion.

he defames the message of Jesus with his words - Jesus would spit that man out of his mouth were he alive today.

I can get vilified in Tehran, Montgomery and Ireland equally.

46. Doctrinally, he's right. Politically, he's toast.
It's funny but most of the patriarchal religions are like this: you are part of the "family" if you believe - a sister or brother in Islam or Christianity etc. Anyone who doesn't believe like you, they are outsiders. It's so incredibly divisive.

And of course he's not even mentioning non-believers..... As a Baptist, he can't even wrap his brain around the fact that there are some who don't believe in any sky daddy.
