Adobe Gives Up Flash on Mobile: Steve Jobs Proved Right One Last Time
In an abrupt about-face in its mobile software strategy, Adobe will soon cease developing its Flash Player plug-in for mobile browsers, according to an e-mail sent to Adobe partners on Tuesday evening.

And with that e-mail flash, Adobe has signaled that it knows, as Steve Jobs predicted, the end of the Flash era on the web is coming soon.

The e-mail, obtained and first reported on by ZDNet, says that Adobe will no longer continue to "adapt Flash Player for mobile devices to new browser, OS version or device configurations," instead focusing on alternative application packaging programs and the HTML5 protocol.

"Our future work with Flash on mobile devices will be focused on enabling Flash developers to package native apps with Adobe AIR for all the major app stores," the quoted e-mail says.

1. It's not that Jobs was "right"
He simply forced the issue by refusing to have his devices support Flash. There's a difference between being a visionary (which Jobs wasn't--he was good at popularizing other people's ideas) and simply making things happen.

Then Adobe must be run by morons because Android device activations are increasing while iOS declines.

Why would Adobe abandon a robust technology with a growing market share?

4. Rest assured, this will NOT be the LAST time Jobs is proven right.
Our children's children will be looking at him as a visioanry.

14. Jobs envisioned an open web.
Not a closed source like Adobe.

He may not have anything to do with HTML5 personally, but his promotion of the web without power hungry plug-ins WAS revolutionary. Before him, everyone wanted Flash on their devices, and everyone was using flash for everything.

15. You obviously are missing the truth. It was the vision of the consortium
that will cause the extinction of flash. They knew if first and created the action. They are the visionaries. Jobs was a messenger.
