Russell Pearce Has Lost Recall Election

Architect of SB1070, along with CCA private prison has been ousted in today's vote.

Pearce had worked with the American Legislative Exchange Council lobby front to shape the latest version of the bill, which had spawned similar laws in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and other states.

PHOENIX — Arizona Senate President Russell Pearce – the driving force behind many immigration related laws, including the polarizing SB 1070 – was recalled by voters Tuesday.

Pearce, who many consider the most powerful politician in the state, lost to charter school administrator Jerry Lewis. He becomes the first state legislator recalled in Arizona history.
