I bring you good news from Montgomery County, PA! |
|
You can go to Philly.com and peruse the articles, but the funny stuff is in The Main Line Times, a RW rag, which almost can't bring itself to say that we've gone from a far RW county to a centrist/slightly lefty (w/respect to social issues) area. More mainstream article: http://ambler.patch.com/articles/shapiro-richards-win-election-to-board-of-commissionersRW rag: http://www.mainlinemedianews.com/

my mother was asked to run for office as the sacrificial Dem. She refused...said she wouldn't get 37 votes in the whole Solebury Twp. in Bucks Cty.

5. Interesting, given the gay population around New Hope (in Solebury Twsp). |

8. Agree, but demographics changed with the development of a few "neighborhoods." |
|
Still, there is a lot of Gay pride and support. The high school kids have a yearly Walk to benefit Aids/HiV, there is an annual parade (all the straight families participate and the school is also encouraged), arts and galleries abound... Quite a mix, and it works. Merchants (who tend to be anti-residents and pro-tourists) have become quite involved, politically -- and they tend to be republican.

can't get too excited about this outcome. I was happy some Dems were making progress in this county until about a month ago when I sat down to look at what they were running on. They may call themselves Democrats, but I see NO evidence that they actually are. They appear to be to the right of Obama.
