Why did the GOP become so hysterical when accusations of sexual assault against Cain came out? |
|
Was anyone else surprised by how fast and furiously the right wing wackadoodles circled the wagons around Cain to defend this accused serial deviant?
Man, I never seen anything quite like that before.
Any ideas what brought that on?

1. Hey, a black man dumb enough to side with the GOP is a GODSEND to the GOP. |
|
They'd lick the crumbs off of his pizza plate if he told them to. I mean shit, the Dems got a black man in the White House - they're desperate. They still don't LIKE blacks, but if they can get one elected for political points, they'll do it. Face it - the GOP is the White Peoples' Party. It always will be. I'm white and I can't stand the GOP, mostly because I wasn't raised in a racist household. That's been a major issue for me all along.

15. They can't afford to lose one of "their" blacks ... |
|
remember, the cameras came back to the same handful in the GOP convention in 2008 ...
You could probably spot Cain in the footage ... many times at least in the first 50 or so times each of "their" blacks were flashed to ...

2. I think it's because they think they own family values. Therefore, it can't be true. |
|
The only time they DON'T circle the wagons is when it's a matter of gay activity--like Larry Craig.

9. They also think they own patriotism. |
|
Which is why any righties who are called out on how they're damaging the nation tend to go completely ballistic.
I do that to them whenever I need entertainment.

and a current ultra-liberal.
I can sense their brains getting ready to explode, because they can't conceive of anyone who ever wore a uniform being smart enough to see through their BS.

14. I'm sure that bothers them--my husband is in the Air Force, there's simply an assumption |
|
by many GOPers that he encounters that he must also be an Obama-hating Repub. It makes them very uncomfortable when he sets them straight.

|
Since they're convinced only a black guy can defeat Obama. Having a black VP on the team provides cover for their race-baiting and discriminatory policies.

Because if it can be done to Cain, all GOPers are open season now. |
|
Previously they had something of a free pass with sexual crimes. Vitter still serves. Even Larry Craig finished his term.
Something has changed, and they don't like it one bit.

6. because the pundits had all warmed to him |
|
The Republican pundits are people like Rush that can never, ever say they were wrong. Had this information come out about him while he was still low in the polls and unknown they would of gladly buried him with it. But once they he anointed him a real candidate with ideas welcome by voters they were/are forced to defend him at all costs. These are people that still defend the Iraq war, torture, the Bush tax cut... they never, ever can say they were wrong and worse will go to the hilt to defend the most vile acts. Honestly did you ever think you'd live in a country that would openly defend torture by our government?

8. They have a lot invested in their token minority candidate.... |
|
who, they think, gives them cover for all the racist policies, stances, and behaviors they undertake. Fortunately, sell-outs like Cain are apparently not so easy to find/groom.

11. Because their primary response to all situations is Self-Righteousness |
|
They see themselves as better than everyone else.
Better Christians, better patriots, better Americans.
They like to sit in judgment on everyone else. And it drives them absolutely INSANE when they, or one of their own, gets judged.
Given that they are so much better than everyone else, anyone who dares accuse them of anything ... well, that person is the embodiment of evil.
That's how I read it.
I'd also point out that their self-righteousness is often used so they can assert their superiority, using it to manipulate and control others. It gives them power.
They also use their self-righteousness as a defense mechanism. They know the scary thoughts that live inside them, and their are terrified that others will find out, and so they project this self-righteous strength to place themselves above reproach.

17. The Republicons did the same thing with Sen. Diaper Dave Vitter (R) |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 12:19 PM by SpiralHawk
In fact, the Senate Republicons gave Diaper Dave a Standing Ovation in the wake of his infantile extramarital escapades. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/06/07/982799/-Resign-Vitter-got-a-standing-O!It was at that moment I realized that the current Republicon Family Values had been dredged out of the moral cesspool.

Cain is just one unelected clown of many.
They acted like he was not expendable. Almost like he was all they had.
