Right-Wing Media Attack Obama For Acting To Prevent Prescription Drug Shortages
http://mediamatters.org/research/201111080015

November 08, 2011 2:23 pm ET —

Right-wing blogger Michelle Malkin and Fox Business host Andrew Napolitano have attacked President Obama for issuing an executive order that seeks to reduce prescription drug shortages, arguing that government regulations are the real problem. But Obama's executive order not only deals with regulatory delays but also attempts to tackle problems with the manufacturing pipeline, which analyses say is the biggest reason for the shortages.

2. Just hope cancer isn't cured under Obama's watch
That would certainly be considered an impeachable offense to the GOP.

6. Isn't one of the main problems that producers in India and China stop making precursor chemicals?
The "manufacturers" in the US often only do the last steps in producing the final pharmaceutical product using precursor chemical from East and South Asia.

Those off-shore manufacturers change processes or discontinue lines, which in turn leads to the US "manufacturer" having to either disconinure a product or having to requalify a different off-shore source.

A better solution would be to set up a domestic capability to produce these drugs.
