Christmas is Once Again Safe from Obama ! Thanks, Right Wing !
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 04:08 PM by K Gardner
Boy, this was close ! Obama nearly snuck through that Tax on Christmas but thanks to our good watchdogs at Fox and the Heritage Foundation, we're safe once again.

Seems in 2009 the National Christmas Tree Association (with large support from its members) asked the Agriculture Department for a 15-cent fee to be set aside for an Ad Campaign.

Seems that sales of fresh trees are not what they once were, family tree farms are struggling, and they thought something akin to the "Got Milk" campaign might help. Two years later, this was approved by the Dept. of Agriculture. Yay Family-Owned Farms, right?!

Not so fast!

To the rescue comes the Drudge Report.. and Fox News.. and Heritage with cries of "Obama Stealing Christmas", "Obama Taxing Christmas Trees", etc. Pretty soon, the blogs and social media sites picked it up with hysteria about 'the Muslim who stole Christmas' running rampant. Gateway Pundit blogger Jim Hoft said the "Christmas Tree Tax" illustrated that "Barack Obama hates Christians."

This afternoon, amidst mounting hysteria and criticism, the Dept of Agriculture announced the new "tax" would be delayed. Once again, we are safe. Those family tree farms may not survive another year, but who cares, right?

3. I loved the comment suggesting the government shouldn't be favoring
natural Christmas trees over artificial Christmas trees. Let's see, the Agriculture Department shouldn't assist small farmers in marketing their product? Not to mention, aren't artificial trees imported?

4. LOL- I didn't see that one hedgehog. I did see one comment on FB where someone
suggested that this would "promote the stealing of wild trees."

After I picked mahself up off the floor laughing at that image, I wondered if many "wild cattle" were thieved when the fee was imposed for the "Beef: It's What's for Dinner" campaign started.

7. Hilarious! When I was a boy, trees were $5.
Now they're $30 or more. $.15 will cause someone to not buy a tree? Republicans count on people being suckers, and there are plenty.

8. Wow
I particularly like the additional Christmas decorations in the background. Nothing says "Peace on Earth" like a rebel flag and John Deere.

This guys God hates him.

10. I hope I'm confused...
...and you meant you could "see" the rebel flag and that you aren't actually thinking of adding it to your holiday decorations. ;)

The John Deere is on the "Christmas" stocking. My husband and I saw them at Home Depot or some other similar store.

If you actually meant you could "understand" using a rebel flag for a Xmas decoration, but not John Deere...I'm not sure what to say.
