2. I'm going to send Stephen a note thanking him.
Many of us were involved in making the school system a success story for all of Wake County's kids before this Tea Party takeover.

3. I analyzed Alabama's test scores several years ago and found a high negative correlation between
per cent students on various free lunch programs and test grades, I believe the stat was around 0.7.

I also looked at the racial make up and per student spending and found trivial values, e.g. less than 0.1.

I concluded at the time that poverty could be a strong influence on low test scores.

See: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=219&topic_id=8228#8234

But, what causes poverty?

What about middle linebackers that average $1,175,788, range $310,000 to $9.4 million? See http://www.ehow.com/about_7415423_average-salary-nfl-middle-linebacker.html

What about middle linebackers who don't have a job and wannabe kids who never made a high school team?

Should we blame K-12 schools for poverty?

4. Public schools should be somewhere we can try and reverse problems.
Everyone having access to the best educationally as can be made possible is a good start. That was the idea behind the diversity program that has now been scuttled by the Tea Party.
