Herman Cain did not pick these women because they were attractive only, he had some success
in the past, obviously, with some women who've not come forward yet
I guess his conquests were more common than his rejections, his behavior makes this apparent.
I hope whoever they may be will come forward.

1. It's always in the numbers
There are probably plenty of women that blew him off and there's probably many who went for it. It's a numbers thing...any good sales manager will tell you that'.

2. Yes, His conduct is the sort of thing that DSK was accused of.
And that these men were serial harassers is very credible. I doubt that either of them intended to rape anyone -- but harass and then fool themselves into believing that those women who gave in did it because they were so overwhelmingly attractive. Most definitely.

It's called playing the numbers. Some men just try with many women figuring that sooner or later they will hit a jackpot. I have no idea what the women who give in to these guys are thinking. It completely mystifies me.

3. Isn't he some kind of minister? I would guess some of his conquests
are in his church and afraid to come forward. This man did not start this yesterday.

4. I have to to think he was rewarded in his efforts
Some women HAVE submitted to his perverse advances
And people talk in the work place as mentioned by that pollster who worked for the NRA
Just waiting for someone to come forward, Cains perversion is far greater than Clarence Thomas's perversions

No....
Thomas and Cain are from the same cloth. What Anita Hill had to endure for sooooooooooooo long w/ this jerk makes me sick. May they both enjoy eternal flaccidity.

5. I'm uncomfortable with your using the terms "success" and "conquests" in the context of harassment
Edited on Wed Nov-09-11 08:58 PM by spooky3
or even in the context of freely-entered-into dating relationships.

Viewing women as "conquests" when dating is sexist. Women don't conquer men, and men don't conquer women. I guess I could see how one could be successful if s/he is trying to persuade someone with charm, flowers, fun trips, etc. But it also implies that one person is "getting something" from the other, so one fails when the other succeeds.

However, it is even more objectionable when a man (or woman) uses force or abuse of power in order to coerce others into something that they don't freely want to do and are not free to reject.

I understood your good intentions, but the language is a concern. Maybe another way to say it is that you believe he had been able to coerce others without being held accountable, so he thought he could get away with it again.

11. good point and well taken
I was placing myself in *his* mindset to get my point across, it seemed to have more gravity, I did not consider the general sexist implications
