Occupy XMAS
This year we can send the greatest message ever--to the 1 % and to our loved ones...

Occupy your homes. Stay away from the malls and marts (especially the ones that have names that start with W-A-L...).

Make something for somebody yourself.

Regift something that you can no longer use.

Bake something as a gift.

Give yourself by offering your talents as a gift, even if it's just babysitting.

If you just have to buy, buy American.

I'm sure there are many more ways than I can think of to Occupy XMAS.

What do you think?

4. I am not boycotting Wal Mart. I live in rural TN and my husband
works at Wal Mart. There aren't many places people can work around here. I will support my husband and the other people who work there. Why do you want to hurt the employees?

9. I personally can not stand the horrible corporation known as "The Wal-mart"
that said, i'm glad it provides employment for your husband. Makes you wonder what other kind of job he could have had if Wal-mart hadn't moved in and taken over though. I don't think anyone is out to hurt employees of any store - but many of us are sick of corporate consumerism and will chose not to participate - especially at stores that engage in union busting the way Walmart does.

6. I think there's probably a good 15% who don't participate in Xmas anyway
We American Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, etc. (I'm not counting the non-religionists or atheists yet, because some of them may shop for Xmas anyway, in a secular way), it should not be forgotten, are part of the X% (I honestly don't know the actual number) who are being left out of this particular "majority" occupy action. Just reminding everyone that in America, many traditions prevail, and for a good many of the 99%, Xmas doesn't really play a role.

Your idea is good, I just think that the diversity of America should be acknowledged in this context.

(PS: And no, I don't think "Occupy Hanukkah" works!)

11. The people who do participate will make the difference.
I believe that the economy will actually force a lot of people to "occupy" XMAS whether they are aware of it or not. I hope people consciously choose to tho.

7. I already do that every year
can't stand all the corporate consumerism. I make all the gifts I give - or will sometimes buy books from our local used bookstore as gifts - but right on - I'm in!

10. We made this song, "Here Comes Christmas"...
...which you may listen to - the song will play automatically - and, if you like it, download the free mp3 using the link below the image.

Here Comes Christmas by Green Sparkle Frog.
