1. It's their page, they can delete what they want. Facebook is a data-mining piece of shit. |
|
It's not a "democratic forum."
You could always fire up your own "Penn State Coverup Comments" page of your own, if you'd like.
At the end of the day, it's just bullshit. They know they fucked up, and they're desperately trying to salvage their reputation so they aren't forever known as Pedophile State.

2. That's what is disturbing in all of this. |
|
I see your point but putting aside the fact that it is FB, erasing those posts critical of Pedophile State for firing pedophilia enablers just make them look worse.

3. First, please don't call it Pedophile State |
|
My parents are PSU alums, I grew up in State College. Penn State is, in fact, more than its football team, Sandusky, Paterno, etc, etc.
Second, yeah, that's Penn State for ya--the administration is pretty hard-assed. But Penn State is more than the hard-assed administration, too. It's a public university, and its students are now getting flayed for something a handful of good-ol-boys at the top did. That's not right, particularly for kids who don't have much money or a lot of college options.

5. Everyone's calling it that. It'll stick for a while, until this story blows over. |
|
You can get mad about it, but that won't change what people are saying--it'll make it more likely that they will repeat it. People generally like a reaction when they make a comment, and that new nickname is certainly an attention getter.

4. They don't care--they're managing the story. It's what a media arm does. |
|
This has all to do with image, and they want the image that remains to favor them. They are using the tools they have to try to shape that image.
You might know they are erasing posts, but the majority of people visiting the page will not know this.
