I am so sick and tired of all of those on the right starting statements with, "This is what the |
|
American people want." Ask them what American people. Make them explain where it was they talked to them. Was it just their constituents? It is a lie and is never challenged by interviewers and others. Challenge them and tell them to identify the polls they cite. They spew numbers from somewhere in the recesses of their minds and it flows out over the air waves. It makes me so angry.

1. Lighten up a bit. Everybody says that to justify their position. |
|
I doubt anyone takes a statement like that seriously anymore, so I wouldn't get worked up over it. There are more important things to be angry about.

5. As you listen to political debate and commentary for the next few weeks... |
|
...listen for that phrase. I think you'll find that pretty much everyone says the American people support their position. Some might be intellectually dishonest in saying that, but they say it anyway. Sorry, but that's my experience.

|
listening to political discussions. It is seldom to never used by the left.

as the OP states ask them what American people. Where do they get their stats? Not everybody says that. But I sure hear it a lot from the right.

6. I've been studying the political debate for almost 40 years... |
|
...and I've gotten pretty cynical. The truth is that what they say isn't really all that important. Watch what they actually do.

So I plan to give the "voters of November 2010" the same amount of "respect" and "cooperation" that was give to the VOTERS OF NOVEMBER 20008!!
Actually I blame James Madison for the whole mess. Because of the way he helped negotiate the terms of office and election schedule, 132 of million voters chose the direction and make-up of the government during the Presidential election...followed 2 years later by 42,000,000 less voters changing things.
Total ballots cast November 2008: 132,645,504
Total ballots cast November 2010: 90,706,582
Makes you wonder what would have happened had those 42,000,000 not stayed home?
