CRAZY!!!
Edited on Thu Nov-10-11 07:33 AM by butterfly77
I CAN'T BELIEVE WHAT I AM SEEING! PROTECTING PEDOPHILES. THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT THE CHILDREN.

THEY CARE MORE ABOUT THIS OLD MAN AND SPORTS NO CARE FOR THE CHILDREN.

Evidently, sports and sports figures trump everything.

What in the hell makes Paterno a hero??? Did he save the little boy who was being raped...

1. Andy Staples from Sports Illustrated....
We'll pause here for a brief public service announcement: Kids, don't drink and approach people with microphones. YouTube is forever. Many of those students will have children of their own in a few years, and then they'll finally understand why so many felt so disgusted by the way those in power at Penn State handled this nightmare. They'll realize they embarrassed themselves, their families and their university. They'll feel awfully stupid about the way they acted Wednesday, so don't be too hard on them. The hangover will come. Someday, they'll realize Joe Paterno wasn't the victim in this case. A bunch of innocent kids were.

know some of the victims or could have been victims themselves. I guess if family pet had been raped they would have gained more sympathy.

I can't believe this shit I am slapping my head, every time I hear some of the comments condoning this.

The students are making the school look even worse. Too bad we couldn't get people in the streets like this when Bush/Cheney was fucking the country in the ass.

yet people look for dismissing, and validating.

i am having a wonderful conversation with youngest son. as he tries to defend the coach. granted he is young. not an adult. a line. cross over the line. character fail. protect the children. protect the one without power that is abused.

21. I was about to make a similiar comment.
These kids remind me of all the republicans who have been making excuses for Cain, Perry, and the rest. I wish all their parents had the same conversation you are having with your son. But, unfortunately, I suspect many of their parents are the very same people who are making the excuses for these republican schmucks.

15. Everyone there just learning of this has a lot to process....
I hope that the majority of them, after they stop and think about it and see more reports of what happened, will realize Paterno did NOT do the right thing at all.

As usual, whether it's OWS or anything else, the media is focusing on the most inflammatory comments students are making (the whole visual riot thing surely doesn't help, I realize). But I saw some of them being interviewed saying they're protesting the media and it's inevitable circus atmosphere around Paterno 'cause he's the most famous of those involved -- when they should be focusing on Sandusky and the victims (in a respectful way for the latter).

18. No one is making excuses for those criminally or even quasi-criminally involved...
Personally, when it involves a large group of people such as the Penn State student body...or even teabaggers...I try my best to understand where some of them MAY be coming from.

We don't even know how much many of them have really heard. College students aren't always the most informed group of people as far as current events, including ones right in their backyard.

But there's no excuse for not being informed, I agree. I just prefer not to think the majority of the world (or at least the US) is full of assholes, so I try to take a deep breath and put myself in their shoes.

20. My viewing of TV coverage has been spotty....
But my SO watches ESPN constantly, and everyone I saw on there -- even when the story first broke -- said the exact same thing. Professional athletes and commentators; I actually haven't seen one defend Paterno or anyone involved.

It's all been pretty much how we (most of us) feel here.

They said Paterno and McQueary need to be gone NOW, and that they wouldn't be surprised if criminal charges were also filed against them for coverup.

I guess I didn't get a feel from MSM as far as how they were covering it. I just know in the last two days it's been Paterno 24/7. Maybe the students only saw that, too.

I don't know...I'm just trying to give some of those kids the benefit of the doubt, that they're not all stupid assholes.

rationalize the behavior of college students because they are 'kids'. They are young adults who should know right from wrong.

34. Young adults are still 'kids'. Even knowing right from wrong, they would
still be upset about a hero going down for whatever reason. The first stage of grief is denial. Also the first reports were that Paterno reported the issue. After more review, we all know the problem went much deeper, was covered up, and everyone involved dropped the damn ball.

17. what do you EXPECT from people
Who cheer and say Let Him Die, when told about a person in a coma with no Health care.
Who Boo a Gay Soldier who is fighting for their very so called right to BOO.
Who recommend books on returning to Slavery. (When did it leave?)
And who Yell Socialist when we really know what they want to say.
To protect all culpable suspects is hardly surprising to me. For years they have allowed business men to go abroad and have open SEX with CHILDREN and come home and face no PROSECUTION.All Pedophiles make children easily accessible to them and put themselves in power positions not to be judged. Point Blank. And if they protect their Chemicals companies when they pollute or protect their power companies when they intentionally poison water ways with chemicals that cause cancers, sell tainted peanut butter to children. Oh HELL yes they would protect the image of their Precious University instead of help a child. To me the best image a University or anyone could do would be to get that ridiculous motherfucker AWAY FROM CHILDREN!!!!!!!And make it so they don't have access to any more. No matter what or who, or how much money they have, or reputation to be lost.Because by exposing the pedophile we have everything to GAIN. Respect for those who can't defend themselves. Its not their JOB!!!!!!!

protected pedophiles for almost a decade. Now the coach did inform administration but he then put it behind him and didn't follow up. That is a lack of leadership and he deserved to lose his position.

There are thousands more students out tonight for a candle light vigil for the victims.
