Having trouble locating Penn State on a map |
|
Looking in all the liberal areas. I see a Pittsburgh, CA near San Francisco, but no Penn St. I see a Penn Station in New York City, but no Penn State. I see Penn and Teller in Las Vegas, but no Penn State.

25. Go figure, yourself. The location is University Park, PA. 16802. NOT State College. |

University Park has more residents than State College and is, indeed, a separate entity.

|
as a Land-Grant university thought that it should be in the geographic center of the state, even though there was virtually nothing there at the time except forest and farms. Interestingly, when they got around to setting up the medical school it was located in Hershey PA, which is a couple of hours drive south. Anyone care to guess where most of the initial funding for the medical school came from?

28. You think Milton Hersey was in on it? |
|
Fits the M.O. Business is attracted to children. Built and finance an all boys orphanage on Hersey property. Built an amusement park. Links to Penn State. At what lengths do you think Hersey would go to protect their brand name?

4. I had to laugh at Colin Cowherd (sports show guy) this morning.... |
|
he said that Penn State is right in the middle of corn fields.....and there are only two places in the USA that you can't get cell phone reception....East Texas, and Central Pennsylvania. Corn, corn, corn, corn Penn State, corn, corn, corn corn. He did say it was one of the most beautiful campuses but I did laugh at his statement about where it was.

...it's really in the middle of nowhere, and very isolated from the rest of "civilization".
It's either idyllic, or creepy.
Seems kinda creepy, today.

and went to Iowa State University in Ames for graduate school. PSU may once have been surrounded by corn, but in my day Ames was FAR more isolated and corn-surrounded. When I lived in Ames, road would just sort of end at the corn fields. And there weren't many roads, either.
Plus, you can in fact get cell phone service in central PA. The only place where I've gone in the US where cell phone coverage didn't exist was in Vermont (which, terrifyingly enough, looks a lot like central PA. Maybe there's a connection...).

22. If you are coming or going |
|
in or out of State College in the direction of Pittsburg OR Philadelphia there is only one route you can take- Route 322 East. This means you have to go past my house....and if it's after a game, you have to crawl past my house (it's two lanes) so good luck, it usually takes 3 to 4 hours.
I am quite curious to see how long the bumper to bumper traffic will be this Saturday after the home game, and how to gauge it.
