Gov. Rick Perry, trying to limit the damage from a severe gaffe in Wednesday night’s debate, will go on “Late Show with David Letterman” tonight.

According to the show’s official Twitter account, Perry will present Thursday night’s Top Ten List.

2. Damage control, indeed
Perry will present the Top Ten list in an "aw, shucks" good ol' boy way, pretend to "forget" one of the list items, and use a little self-deprecating humor to try to paper over his awesomely bad performance at the debate. Everybody will have a good laugh, and Perry can get back to the business at hand.

6. Will he do something stupid on Letterman like Bush did?
Maybe he'll win the nomination if he can top Bush. Here's Perry's chance to show he's Republican Presidential material.

“…When George W. Bush appeared on the "Late Show With David Letterman" just prior to the 2000 election, he was caught on tape committing a heinous breach of social etiquette. During a commercial break, producer Maria Pope was on stage discussing something with Letterman, and while she was standing there in front of Bush, he leaned forward, grabbed the back of her sweater, and used it to clean his glasses. You've got to see it to believe it. …”

8. Too bad they don't install doors and lock them when he goes on stage.
And do a Bush trying to leave.

7. Count on Dave to poke a little fun, but not humiliate him
Dave has been through some pretty embarrassing stuff himself, so he knows how it feels. He also probably knows that Perry is toast, so there's no real reason to twist the knife.

Dave is also very much a liberal, so he probably hopes that Perry will stay in the race to dilute the votes & make Romney struggle as much as possible.

Dave's no fool:)
