Nancy Pelosi’s Suggestion For Reducing The Debt: Put Super Committee Negotiations On TV
Source: Mediaite

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (or, if you prefer, the artist also known as “Princess Nancy”) paid a visit to The Daily Show Wednesday night. She offered a solution for reducing the national debt: Put the Super Committee (The Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction) on TV.

After discussing issues facing government (basically, the fact that Americans neither trust nor particularly like what’s going on in Congress), she offered an alternative that’s a bit outside of the box. “I think the point is now,” she told the host, “what we should say to the twelve people on the Super Committee, get in a room, sit down, reach agreement, on public television.” Charlie Rose, are your ears ringing?

Have a look, courtesy of Comedy Central:

6. Nancy is wrong, but I still like the idea
What happens when a bunch of hams get in front of a camera? Doesn't Nancy remember the O. J. trial?

It will grind the super committee to a complete halt, thus saving social security and medicare.

10. What happens when they're not in front of cameras? Lobbyists rule the day.
I don't have much hope for good outcomes from this super committee.

7. Why are we even talking about the national debt?
The last thing we should do in the middle of a recession/depression is to cut government spending. I hope the super-committee fails to reach an agreement.

11. Televise and allow write-in comments
As negotiations go along the viewers should be able to write in comments-

i.e., points to argue that the committee members are leaving out,
data to substantiate points - whatever.

How many times have you heard a newscast or argument being made that left out pertinent details
that would drive the argument or substantiate a point being made?

There needs to be some viewer input.
