Now I think it is time that the NCAA consider probation for PSU football
And any of you who have promising sons who play high school football should direct them away from PSU.

This is revolting and evil.

SHOCKING PENN STATE RUMOR: Jerry Sandusky 'Pimped Out Young Boys To Rich Donors'

Sportswriter Mark Madden went on WEEI in Boston and reported a rumor that alleged child molester Jerry Sandusky would pimp out boys to rich donors.

"I hear a rumor that there will be a shocking development from the Second Miles Foundation ... That Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to rich donors."

Madden claims it's being investigated by "two prominent columnists."

We'd say this is ridiculous, and that you should take it with a grain of salt. But Madden actually wrote about Sandusky for the Beaver County Times six months ago — long before the scandal blindsided everyone else this week.

4. probation, my ass. Give them the Death Penalty
the even sicker suggestion is that this story was kept quiet till Joe Pa had the record for most wins before it came out...knowing he'd ultimately have to go

5. That just about never happens
and even then, the dead can be "resurrected", as was SMU after they were supposedly executed.

6. Probation is based on NCAA rules.
It is not warranted because there have been no NCAA rules violated or even alleged to be violated here.

9. Thanks for stating the obvious
There will be no sanctions, because there was no NCAA violation.

7. In my view, it would be wrong to punish present day Penn State athletes for sins of others

that occurred decades ago.

The university has cleaned house and appears to be making every effort to begin anew. Putting them on probation would be counterproductive to that effort.

8. How is 2002 'decades ago'? Start there.
And they did not clean house until they got caught. The institution is corrupted and the institution needs to be held accountable.

10. Could you please cite the NCAA rule violation that would make this possible?

11. Sorry, but this scandal is much too far above the NCAA's station. . .

...and in any event, it's really not their job.

The NCAA's job is to look into recruiting and academic improprieties pertaining to college student-athletes and their coaches.

What happened at PSU goes way beyond cheating to win recruits and athletic contests - this is a matter for the civil and criminal courts. It is not the athletes themselves that are being accused of these crimes.

12. The guy retired as a football coach in 1999
Granted the school remained "connected" to the guy and his foundation, but from what I can tell he wasn't on the football staff when any of this happened. People have lost there jobs and rightly so, it would seem, but sanctioning the football team that he had once been an assistance coach for seems like an overreach to me.

13. This is mostly beyond the NCAA's purview.
Sanctioning the program is unnecessary and unfounded. What they can do is revoke all of Paterno's wins for this season, and consequently his all time win record. It was only through the connivance and complicity of Penn State, the media, and local jurisprudence, that he was allowed to continue coaching this season at all. The grand jury met in April! The whole damn community is guilty.

14. No Penn State athletes have been victims or implicated in the crimes
So replace the coaching staff that have been involved and continue to play.
