Although you are welcome to discuss it... but...
The power structure that allows the ignoring of out and out CRIMES by the high and mighty, will only be cured when the laws are applied to ALL.

harm in fox news. why do they spend so much on commercials. i think it is silly to suggest what we are fed does not effect us.
we seem to say on the one hand, people allow media to control them but when it doesnt fit our agenda we argue that it has no influence on us.

18. who said anything about fucking banning. geeez, this argument must be one extreme or the other |
|
in dealing with fox, is there ANY other solution besides simply banning fox. you really cannot come up with anything else but banning?
i guess you are acknowledging that i am correct that what media does, influences us.
how about education. recognition. factual information. discussion.
can we do any of that stuff without banning it all. or pretending it doesn't effect us.

30. I'm reasonable. I don't think we should ban Catholicism or put all anti-sex authoritarians in jail |
|
but I DO think the leaders, like the Pope, should be arraigned on international criminal conspiracy charges.

8. The way I look at it, DU is like a trading floor, like a stock trading floor of ideas. With... |
|
...everyone shouting, making bids, over-valuing some stocks (subjects) and devaluing others. Some people spend all their time in the silver pit, some over in wheat futures, some just ambulate as world news moves them to and others, hoping to sow chaos, randomly drift from place to place just for the sport of it.
The only control over that (oversimplified) dynamic is the administrative moderation and the administrative moderation has been such that that is the dynamic which exists today.
In short, the best way to enjoy DU is to enter the forum of your choice and aggressively use the Hide Thread function until mostly just the topics you're interested in remain. I have been doing this for weeks now and while it is one hell of a chore, you might try it to help cut down the signal-to-noise ratio.
There will be a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio of hidden threads to threads clicked on out of interest if you're doing it right.

25. Penn State is the behemoth university |
|
that focuses on football, engineering, and is basically in the middle of nowhere. Penn is short for The University of Pennsylvania, which is a private, ivy-league school in Philadelphia. If it was super-hard to get into, your nephew is probably going to Penn, not Penn State.

it is possible to get rid of all the threads having to do with Penn state news story, fortunately. The story will die down in a day or two, as these things usually do and the next "very important" news story breaks from our noble media.
