1. I used to think the people on my Condo Board were assholes... |
|
...until I was elected to the Board and learned how many assholes lived in the development.

3. We seem to have a token crazy person(s) (and some couples) on each and every floor. |

I agree, never again. Especially since I can do everything from roofing to plumbing to electric on my own - and I love to dig in the dirt.
A condo is more of a place to stay than a home.

4. I've been on the bord 7 or 8 years now |
|
and I'm finally seeing the effort pay off to get the assholes out of the board and put the screws on the ones in the community. After 30 years of mismanagement, the place is starting to shape up.
It takes work to make a bunch of people off the street into a functional social organism. It's like a village. It takes a goal, a plan, and perseverance. The rewards, however, are a safe, efficient affordable and high quality life for all.
If I were younger, I'd work on the Democrats in the same way.
Condo living is a lesson in real grassroots politics!

5. Did you ever have anyone drill a hole in the building so he could chain up his motorcycle? |

How about a rock band practicing once a week at full volume? How about people melting the siding because the barbeque was too close? I'm sure you've had more dogs peeing and crapping on the lawn than you can count.

Cutting roof trusses to put in skylights without permissions, permits or inspections, putting in a jacuzzi upstairs that caused structural damage, putting the washing machine in an upstairs closet and complaining about cracked sheet rock below...
That's why having proper inspections and enforcement is our #2 duty, after collecting the fees....
