What if the boy from the shower committed suicide? |
|
I saw on the news tonight that the prosecutors don't know the identity of the boy who was raped in the shower. What if he isn't even alive anymore?

1. I have to wonder about the quality of investigators/detectives |

in the police department.... Just sayin....Identifying the child this many years later might be challenging, but hardly strikes me as "impossible"...or even improbable.

3. Are you referring to the University Police? |
|
Campus police are usually a joke. Keystone cops for the most part. Not very well respected by real cops.
They're more preoccupied with breaking up underage drinking parties and giving bicycle tickets than solving real crimes.
When I was in college the campus police were complete assholes to the students and were always very buddy buddy with the administrators.

4. No... I am speaking to the police department... |

Now that this has been revealed via the Grand Jury, it is their jurisdiction--or conceivably that of the state police or FBI, depending on where this ends up. On edit, it appears the State Police have taken over... http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2011/11/10/exclusive-new-potential-penn-state-victims-emerge.html

5. Are the Penn State police sworn law enforcement officers or armed security guards with police powers |
|
Edited on Fri Nov-11-11 12:02 AM by FarCenter
I believe that their jurisdiction extends only 500 feet beyond campus.

6. If the police had been called THAT NIGHT... |
|
And I don't mean the "campus police" because they have a vested interest in covering the ass of the school....
...well, someone might have some knowledge of the fate of this child. And very possibly, that child might have gotten at least a glimmering that someone, somewhere cared even a little bit about what happened to him...
Think about it. The silence meant that this child was not helped when he needed it most. He may be dead. He may still be out there, hurting, with no one to talk to. He might be suffering from that knowledge of that negligence in addition to the effects of the rape itself, insult to injury. He may have become an abuser himself with victims of his own. We don't know. We may never know.
Like Aslan says in the Narnia books, "we are never told what WOULD have happened." But we can't help but think about it.

7. I keep thinking about how he felt when he made eye contact with McQueary. |
|
He may of thought he was about to be saved and instead the coward just walked away and left him with the monster.

14. The horror of that moment haunts me too. |
|
A brief glimmer of hope and then the sure and certain knowledge that what was being done to you by an adult was okay with other adults.
Whatever thought that poor kid might have had about reporting Sandusky died when McQueary walked in on the rape and then just walked away.

10. The authorities should subpoena all records from Second Mile and state foster patient data. |
|
Also, they should depose Sandusky's wife if she agrees to it, assuming she doesn't have some sort of spousal privilege to prevent it.

The young boy's circumstances must have been dire for Sandusky to go that far. He was probably a foster kid, with nobody looking out for him.
