Posted this on a group I have on FB - much to the chagrin of a RW'er:
That's ok, it's cool to beat down fellow US citizens when you don't agree with their views - if only they had not been out exercising their right to protest (and would just shut up) they would not have gotten beaten (waiting on some folks from the right to express their dismay at cops beating people, I am sure rush and beck will be all over it and outraged....)

The reply:
Were the protesters compliant with the directions of law enforcement officers to disperse? Failure to comply with lawful orders tends to bring an escalation of force from law enforcement in order to gain compliance. Usually, the order of a law enfrocement order is assumed to be lawful at the moment, and the citizen has an obligation to comply with it at the time, with a remedy to be determined through the judicial process later if the order was in fact not lawful in the first place. People cannot be allowed to ignore lawful orders, or we devolve into anarchy. Is that the intent here?
I watched it. What commands were given before the video started? It's called common sense, knowledge of law, respect for law and order. Get some!

Back at him:
I dunno, I guess you feel the same about this:
The first march took place on March 7, 1965 — "Bloody Sunday" — when 600 civil rights marchers were attacked by state and local police with billy clubs and tear gas.
The marchers averaged 10 miles (16 km) a day along U.S. Route 80, known in Alabama as the "Jefferson Davis Highway". Protected by 2,000 soldiers of the U.S. Army, 1,900 members of the Alabama National Guard under Federal command, and many FBI agents and Federal Marshals, they arrived in Montgomery on March 24, and at the Alabama Capitol building on March 25.<1>
The route is memorialized as the Selma To Montgomery Voting Rights Trail, a U.S. National Historic Trail.
---Bunch of dang liberal commies protesting (don't people know their places? The only people allowed to protest are the tea party) They got what they had coming to them, no way the cops would ever do anything wrong.
