Cain’s Lawyer Warns Other Accusers To ‘Think Twice’ Before
Cain’s Lawyer Warns Other Accusers To ‘Think Twice’ Before Coming Forward Or They’ll Be Smeared Too

A story in today’s New York Times offers a disturbing look at the smear tactics and threats the Cain campaign is using to intimidate the four women accusing the candidate of sexual harassment, and any women that might come forward in the future:

L. Lin Wood, the lawyer hired by the Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain to fend off sexual harassment accusations, has warned that any other women who might be considering coming forward with similar allegations “should think twice.”
<snip>

Cain and his defenders aren’t bothering to conceal their intention to silence would-be accusers with bullying. The campaign has hired investigators to dig up dirt on the women. Many respected media outlets are becoming willing accomplices in the diversion of questioning the alleged victims rather than investigating Cain’s conduct.

The insulting assumption behind the AP’s decision to investigate and report on Kraushaar’s past in the first place is, of course, that her credibility is diminished because she had problems with another employer. Besides the fact that the other complaint had nothing to do with sexual harassment, it’s also absurd to think that the same woman couldn’t experience hostile situations in two workplaces.

the rest is at: http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2011/11/10/366144/cains-lawyer-warns-other-accusers-to-think-twice-before-coming-forward-or-theyll-be-smeared-too/

So, isn't this Cain's lawyer ADMITTING that there will be other victims coming forward?

1. Revictimize the victims
One must really be lacking in character to think this is in any way a valid campaign strategy.

3. That's it, he's guilty.....
These rich fuckers think they are untouchable so they do things honorable people would not. I hope CAin burns in hell for eternity for all of his abuse of women. How many women has this man abused or maybe even raped? His run for president may eventually destroy his whole career. I hope it does.

6. Shows you how scared (and evil) they are.
This is SOP with such allegations, especially for the rich and famous. I so want a press conference with three or four or more women -- blonde, attractive, yet ordinary (as in not shrill gold-diggers as has been implied) women. These are apparently ol' Herm's type. Let America see them lined up, telling their all-too-similar and familiar stories. I really want the "abuse them, pay them off, then discredit and smear them" tactic exposed.

8. Even last week, I'd have bet money that there would be many
women he'd done it to, not just a few. The ones we've heard about can't be the only ones because they complained or said no. If everyone had sued his ass or complained, he wouldn't have kept doing it. I think that there have to be many who didn't feel they had the power to say no or file a complaint because they were afraid of losing their jobs.

9. Cain's lawyer ought to be warned he risks never having another client,
for such an outlandish, bizarre, inappropriate and unprofessional statement. (imo, of course.)

10. Norman Goldman said so, too. He said a lawyer threatening
them is unethical and he should lose his license to practice.

11. Maybe one of those women needs to file a Bar complaint
Cain's attorney is slandering those who are coming forward. The women involved are private citizens. The standard to prove slander (and libel) is much lower as a result.

It's unfortunate that Cain's attorney evidently wasn't paying attention when this was covered in law school.

:woohoo:

13.  He might be considered to have defamed those who have come forward,
but he knows they've done so reluctantly and are unlikely to sue. 'Threatening' others is another matter, and quite improper.
