Dire Straits "Brothers In Arms"

These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptisms of fire
I've witnessed your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms

There's so many different words
So many different songs
We have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms

1. I saw Dire Straits back in the '80s when this album was released.
It was an amazing display of humbleness that he didn't call them "The Mark Knopfler Band".
I know each component of a band adds to it's overall trademark sound, but he was that good.

The Cars opened for them, as both bands were riding the crest of their careers at the time.

4. MK continues to make great music today as a solo act.
I saw the Brothers in Arms tour as well back in '85, as well as their final tour as band in '92, and have seen MK 4 times on his solo tours since then.

3. Huge K&R for one of the finest commentaries on war ever put to music.
