I found another treasure trove, a cool research tool , for those who like to find out "stuff":
( Pls kick for others if you think it useful)

American taxpayers spend over $112 million a year to fund the Congressional Research Service,
a "think tank" that provides reports to members of Congress on a variety of topics relevant to current political events.
Yet, these reports are not made available to the public in a way that they can be easily obtained.

Here are some sites that let you find those reports.
I found it because I was googling for....Iran Sanctions.
( Did I mention I used to be a research librarian?)

check these out:

Here is Wiki's info on the CRS with links at bottom of page:

6. Thank you, dixiegrrrrl!
I LOVE Research Librarians. In fact, I love ALL librarians -- especially the ones who stood up to War Inc. when almost everyone in the country was running around wanting to nuke Iraq and Afghanistan and whoever else Corporate McPravda told them to hate.

10. These reports are funded by tax dollars
Why are they not available until released by a Member of Congress?

We should know what information is available on matters being considered by Congress.

I wonder how many reports have never been released?

12. THIS...
is why they want to get rid of librarians esp. in public schools and public libraries. Just another attempt to dumb us down. Good on ya dixie!

13. THIS is why sentient parents need to teach their children the love of learning at an early age!
And, if needs be, much more time with them at home, and away from tv.
My 2 sons, now in their 40's, still thank me for instilling a love of reading and learning when they were very young.
I honestly feel it was the best thing I have ever done.

When I went to university, at the ripe old age of 25, I found they had FIVE huge libraries and would pay me to work in them!
I honestly thought I had died and gone to heaven. One quarter I read over 60 books for a report....sigh... it was delicious.
Which is why I Du is such a resource. Thousands of inquiring minds are posting so much content it would be
too time consuming to find individually on the web, and love of learning shines fiercely here.

16. My fav job came in college...
I worked at the book store near the campus and I lived in the house around the corner. I rolled out of bed, ran a comb through my hair, brushed my teeth, had breakfast at the diner that was between me and the bookstore and went to work. Sometime my customers came in and had coffee with me before I opened the store.

If I hadn't read it myself, some sharp customer had. Professors, students and people coming in off the street, it was heaven on Earth. If I can chose my heaven, I want to do that again. Happiest I have ever been in my entire life.
