Incredible video from Occupy Vermont: "Let her go! Let her go!" and police release her!
You probably know there was a death at the Occupy Vermont encampment last night. This video will show you some things you might not have heard:

---Police pushing a photographer from the Burlington Free Press as he tries to film the scene

---Police arresting a protester, and hundreds of protesters gathering around chanting "Let her go" as she screams "I did not cross the line!" The Mayor comes to the scene and in the mayhem, whispers something into the ear of the police officer, and then announces to the crowd that he will use his authority and she is released!

hopefully this link will work:

1. There are many amazing, moving historic things happening every day in OWS
around the world. And much of the MSM is oblivious to it, deliberate or otherwise.

The more I hear about Vt., the more I think I would like to live there.

Thanks for posting this.

6. actually Mayor Kiss....
is not well liked and he's about to get booted. He's an independent. He's had some major screwups.

he's behind a horrible deal between an internet provider and the city that spent lots of taxpayer's money and ended up in a huge ordeal that still hasn't been resolved

he tried to make a deal to bring in Lockheed Martin to the area, saying they are doing "green" stuff (yeah right), which all the liberals and progressives hate for obvious reasons

there's some kind of debacle going on with funding the airport and he's supposedly involved in that too.

I don't even think he's going to run again. There are a half dozen Democrats running already in anticipation of the tidal wave against Mayor Kiss.

16. Well then in this case he did the right thing...
And if he is about to be shitcanned for that other stuff it still sounds like a good place to live.

20. yeah it is still a good place to live, but the winters here suck.
I left the west coast 12 years ago, been in Vermont ever since, and a big part of me still wants to move back to Oregon.

5. I am very proud of how this situation was handled in Burlington..
I am no fan of Mayor Kiss but he did the right thing and the chief of police is a master at diplomacy. This should be a case book study of how to handle a tense situation. Also very proud of the OWS people. Of course the situation remains dynamic and we will see how it all plays out but for how things were handled yesterday, Bravo!

My condolences to the family of the poor man who took his life

8. hey I got a question for you
Edited on Fri Nov-11-11 02:08 PM by garybeck
do you see the officer on the left holding the woman? He looks a little uncomfortable in the situation. The one Mayor Kiss whispers to right before they release her. I swear he's my neighbor, and we actually were co-coaches of our kids' t-ball team last year. I guess I shouldn't say his name here. Do you recognize him? He's been all over the OWS photos the last couple days.

Great video...even police are out in VT? Geez. Is nowhere in this country safe from patriarchy and oppression? Of course not.

12. I believe he died at the scene
in the first couple minutes of that video you can see them removing the body. they are police officers, not paramedics. that should tell you something.

13. police just released his name:
Burlington police have identified the man who died Thursday from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head while inside a tent at the Occupy Burlington encampment in City Hall Park was 35-year-old Joshua Pfenning, a transient with ties to the Northeast Kingdom.
