Poll question: Should Democrats make the Bush taxcuts permanent?
...In exchange for tax reform, like doing away with subsidies for the big oil companies and doing away with the tax cuts on corporate jets, etc?

If we need revenues, aren't the Bush taxcuts the easiest and simplest way to get them without negotiating anything??

Obviously, those that say the taxcuts are going to expire and there is nothing to talk about do not know what they are talking about.

What is your opinion?

1. I'm fairly sure those loopholes do not equal the Bush tax cuts in revenue. nt

2. Of course not.
But they want those taxcuts made permanent more than anything they have wanted in their entire lives.

5. They been yelling about how much they need revenues...
..and what needs to be cut, etc. This is a simple solution for revenues. I will not belong to such a deceitful, cowardly Party if they do this deal. They have lost me. Good bye. Au revoir. Adios.

4. Democrats in Washington should try to remember that they work for the People...
... not just the wealthy. They should grow a spine and demand an end to the loopholes and subsidies AND and end to the Bush tax cuts.

10. The Democrats should do NOTHING. Let them expire.
Then immediately offer up tax cuts that mirror the middle-class tax cuts that were in the Bush/Obama plan, then let the GOP explain why they DON'T want to give tax cuts to 99% of America, after campaigning/obstructing on the issue since they took over.

Oh, silly me. That would involve someone on the Dem side of the aisle having a backbone.

11. I think you are wrong
they have a backbone. Just not for us. It won't bother them one bit to extend Obamas Tax cuts for the wealthy and go against what their base wants. They do exactly what they want to do.

12. The more important question is: *Will* the Democrats make the Obama tax cuts permanent?
Note, not everyone got a tax cut from the bill Obama signed, those making under $20K got a net tax *increase*.
