Occupy Wall Street is winning
Ben Smith November 11, 2011
Categories: Wall Street

Whatever the objectives of protesters involved in Occupy Wall Street, they have succeeded in engaging the country in a conversation about income inequality.

A quick search of the news--including print articles, web stories and broadcast transcripts--via Nexis reveals a significant rise in the use of the term “income inequality,” from less than 91 instances in the week before the occupation started to almost 500 instances last week

Colin Powell: Occupy Wall Street Demonstrations Are 'As American As Apple Pie'
First Posted: 11/11/11

The Occupy Wall Street demonstrations are "as American as apple pie," former Secretary of State Colin Powell said during a recent interview with CNN's Piers Morgan. According to Powell, there is plenty of justification for the movement's outrage, but also some reason for concern over its direction.

Powell began by recalling his upbringing in Harlem and the Bronx at a time when his parents didn't make much, but were at least able to find stable employment.

"I don't think either of them ever made more than 50 or 60 dollars a week," Powell said. "Both my parents worked for as long as I can remember, they always worked, they always had work."

But this sort of job stability is no longer present, the retired four-star Army general said, a fact that is now serving as a catalyzing force for the Occupy movement.

7. Penn State is fits with the OWS Movement in that it's Total Power of the Few over the Least
and that the Penn State Athletic Program was "Too Big to allow Pedophile to be Brought to Justice."

The enormous power of our Sports Industry over our colleges makes it Big Business where athletes, coaches trainers and the University Faculty and policies of the University are all sacrificed to the almighty dollar.

It's a perfect fit for what the 99% is all about. IMHO...

Starve the Vampire Squid!
POSTED: November 11, 1:16 PM ET

Thanks to artist Molly Crabapple, who's just followed up her "Fight the Vampire Squid" Occupy Wall Street art with a new, extremely cool drawing – "Starve the Vampire Squid."

Coincidentally, I'm meeting with a credit union this weekend. Molly is right!

4. 10 Ways the #Occupy Movement Changes Everything

10 Ways the Occupy Movement Changes Everything
David Korten, Sarah van Gelder and Steve Piersanti
YES! Magazine / News AnalysisPublished: Thursday 10 November 2011

Many question whether this movement can really make a difference. The truth is that it is already changing everything. Here’s how.
--
Before the Occupy Wall Street movement, there was little discussion of the outsized power of Wall Street and the diminishing fortunes of the middle class.

The media blackout was especially remarkable given that issues like jobs and corporate influence on elections topped the list of concerns for most Americans.

Occupy Wall Street changed that. In fact, it may represent the best hope in years that “we the people” will step up to take on the critical challenges of our time. Here’s how the Occupy movement is already changing everything:
