17. I spent a good -- WONDERFUL -- hour on the youtube
hunting up recent clips of Baez and my other favorite, Buffy Sainte-Marie. Not the still photos from 1967 or Woodstock pasted over an uploaded CD or somethin'. Even the grainy, distant, imperfect videos from concerts are spectacular, as are these two voices that so distinguish the depth and beauty of their souls.

Just for starters --

27. Thanks Tansy Gold. Joan Baez is a wonderful woman
Where I grew up, very nearby she had a home dedicated to the "Study of Non-violence" long long time ago. I can still picture it in my head! Thanks again.

She is singing "Joe Hill" and telling the audience the lyrics then singing them.

4. "If it's natural to kill, how come men have to go into training to learn how?" Joan Baez
"The only thing that's been a worse flop than the organization of nonviolence has been the organization of violence." Joan Baez

I fell in love with her as a young marine in 1962. She played no small part in finding my way to pacifism.

9. Tears welling up now...
She touched me very deeply when I was a child in the 60s. The sight of her walking arm in arm with MLK, the day someone tried to run her down while she was marching... her peaceful responses to hatred and violence... what an angel she is! A national treasure. She was one of the singers of that era that caused me to pick up a guitar when I was 10 or so. All three of my kids play now... I thank her for that as well. My daughter is a huge Joanie fan as well... we see her every chance we get. Twice a year for the past two, and it's been such a blessing! She touches my heart each and every time.

We should all aspire to be HALF the human being she is. That would change the world.

7. I could not love her more...
If she were my own kin.

What a wonderful, beautiful human being!

God Bless Joan Baez... keep her safe and sound. We could learn so very much from this woman.

14. We just attented her concert at the Chgo. Theater - packed to the gills and
loving our "Joanie."

So hip, so gorgeous and in great voice. 3 standing ovations.

She takes good care of herself with veggie diet, meditation, and yoga and years of ardouous voice training.

She sleeps in a tree house, at least she did until she tumbled out of it a few months ago...

Imagine she might have married Steve Jobs.

15. Thank you, Joan, for keeping the fire burning all these many years.
You've inspired us, warmed us, entertained us and we are grateful. Same for Pete Seeger, Crosby & Nash, et. al.

19. It's really nice to see Joan Baez show up after David Crosby and Graham Nash, but
I think it's time for a new generation or two show up and put their names on the line for this cause.

23. I don't think anyone is stopping them.
All they need to do is put in an appearance. I don't think it's all that difficult.
