"The people voted for repeal of the healthcare reform." |
|
Edited on Wed Jan-19-11 12:36 PM by kentuck
Let's put a halt to that big lie once and for all.
The last election saw about 40 million less people vote than in the previous election where President Obama specifically ran on healthcare reform. Granted, we may not agree with the reform but the people voted for it when they voted for Barack Obama in 2008.
It is easy to dismiss that election and say that this last election was more important and more indicative of the people's wishes. It's time to put a halt to that lie.

1. But we have to be bipartisan and move to the right now. |
|
The Right doesn't like the HCR. So the 'sensible' thing to do at this point is repeal it like they want.

7. Ultimately, conservatives and those to the right do not want Republican lite |
|
when they can get the real thing. That's why the Blue Dogs lost to Republicans and how the GOP got more concentrated to the right when more liberal Republicans eventually lost to actual Democrats.

Nobody on the Democratic side (aside from maybe a handful of Blue Dogs) is supporting, much less arguing for repeal. Even if the House approves of it, there's no way it will get through the Senate to say nothing of it getting past President Obama's veto pen. It's a symbolic gesture to the "Tea Party" nothing more. There's absolutely NO reason for President Obama or anybody else to make any compromises to keep it intact.

5. Politics tends to be about what happened in the last election. |
|
That is people's perception. What happened in 2008 was then, 2010 is now. Perhaps many voters in 2008 were just plain sick of the Republicans, but either way, in his campaign Obama did promise health care reform even if it was not what most of us wanted. Nobody with a straight face could say, "Oh my God, health care reform! I never knew he was going to do that!"
Two years ago here there was online dancing in the streets about how it was all over for the GOP and that Republicans were finished. I guess the Republicans did not get that memo because rightly or wrongly it's about how things are now, not 2 years ago.

8. It should still say "Some" and not "The" - as in |
|
"SOME people voted for repeal of the healthcare reform."

6. Then they should have elected a Republican senate |
|
Sharron Angle, Christine O'Donnell, Ken Buck, Dino Rossi and Carly Fiorinia should all be senators now if that's what the people really wanted.
Harry Reid did more than anybody to shepard that bill through the Senate, and he was returned to office in a not very liberal state.

10. Wait until 2012 because the GOP will take the Senate then. |
|
The number of seats up are clearly not in favor of the Democrats with only 10 Republican seats and 23 Democratic seats and all they need is a gain of 3 seats.
Last year had the entire Senate have been up for election the Republicans might have taken that as well. Look at the gains they made with just 1/3 of the Senate up for election.
