The Wrath of Rand - Inside the Callousness of the Republican Presidential Field
http://www.counterpunch.org/2011/11/11/the-wrath-of-rand/

Democrats and progressives need to take some time studying Ayn Rand to fully understand the political significance of all the GOP leaders lining up to praise her. The GOP has a huge problem if their conservative religious base finds out what Rand really believed and how influential she is within senior GOP circles.

3. I hope you're right about their conservative religious base.
and the fact they might be shocked to know what Rand stood for. But besides Rand, this is a party whose front runner jokes about harrassment and killing people with electrified fences and the faithful laugh at such "humor".

9. Ayn Rand taught "Godless Capitalism"
At a time when many Right Wing preachers were denouncing "Godless Communism", Ayn Rand was essentially preaching "Godless Capitalism" (although she had the sense not to say that - the closest she got to naming her "philosophy" was her book, "The Virtue of Selfishness"). Nevertheless, many Right Wingers bought it hook, line, and sinker.
