Where is Victim #2?
Edited on Fri Nov-11-11 08:47 PM by alcibiades_mystery
There has been much said - all of it poignant and compelling - about McQueary having done nothing after seeing the child being raped by Sandusky in the Lasch building shower. Why didn't he act? Why did he call his father? Why did he leave the child there with Sandusky?

Few have noted that the authorities still don't know who this child is, that the child has never been identified. Reading another thread, my hair just stood on end on this point. The poster said something like "Whatever you do, you do not leave the child there with the discovered pedophile." A fucking chill shot through me like nothing yet in the case, even though I've heard variations of this point now dozens of times.

What we know is this: McQueary walked in on this scene. Both the child and Sandusky saw McQueary. Then that big, utterly incomprehensible nothing, that completely empty moment that none of use can imagine, lodged between a period and a capital letter in the Grand Jury Presentment. Then McQueary is in his office, calling his father. What, in that empty moment happens to the child? What, in that empty moment, does Sandusky do?

And we know this: Victim #2, the child McQueary saw, the child who saw McQueary, the child with Sandusky, who also saw McQueary, is still not identified with an actual person today. Well, what happened to him? Where did he go? Where is he? Sandusky knows he is discovered. Contrary to some posts here, we know that he was in an extremely isolated location that he well expected to be empty: the football practice facilities, in March, at 9:30, on the Friday before Spring Break. Chance intervenes and puts McQueary there, but it is a slim chance - there should be nobody there, and after McQueary leaves, there is nobody there.

Now, there are plenty of good reasons for Victim #2 still being unaccounted for: he would be roughly 19 or 20 now, and that's the heaviest load one can imagine for a 20 year old man to come out with, to self report, to say, "Hey, that was me, that was me that night." It's a heavy load indeed, especially in the midst of this circus. But it's a chilling thought nonetheless that nobody - not the Attorney General, not the State Police, not the local police, nobody seems to know what happened to that child.

Sandusky looks up, knows he is caught. He knows it. McQueary walks. And what does Sandusky do?

8. Yeah, but the janitor only told other janitors, I think. Not the police. And he also

didn't whack his mop stick over Sandusky's skull. Why not? Maybe he thought he'd not only lose his job but get rubbed out by goons.

16. No. The janitor did tell the police that he did not report it for fear of losing his job.

7. I believe USA Today has an article that says that the janitor now has dementia
and is not fit to stand trial however he told other janitors what he saw that night so one of those janitors has come forward and recounted what he was told. None of the janitors ever said anything becasue they were afraid of losing their jobs.

24. We also don't know who this child is
But Sandusky's behavior after the fact is quite terrifying.

It's absolutely horrific no authority knows who he is.

19. My GOD! Agreed!
It is horrifying!

Poor baby, I wonder if he is okay. I wonder if he is alright, that he is in therapy and loved and supported by his family or friends.

This whole thing just disgusts me, no one helped him!!!! He was so alone... God, makes me fucking CRY!

3. The kid is a material witness..they don't do well if they
Edited on Fri Nov-11-11 08:53 PM by shraby
can testify at some future date. True, Sandusky knows who it was. I would guess he will have amnesia as to the kid's name.
Is there any record at the center he was running as to who was "enrolled" at the time and any record as to whether he was with Sandusky at the time?
These kids were apparently "throw-away" kids who needed extra attention is why he was able to create the organization.
A record of who was with him at the time should be looked for before it disappears if it hasn't already.

9. This assumes the kid was fro the Second Mile
They don't know anything about the kid - where he came from or where he went. All they know about the kid is from McQueary's seconds of observation.

4. Killing the boy wouldn't happen because Sandusky has no idea what's coming next
He probably pushed the boy away and told him to deny everything or else. It would be days before he could even begin to feel that he was safe.

possibility.

15. I'm willing to bet the rape stopped right then
The kid was probably actually saved by McQuery in spite of McQuery's reaction. Pedophiles need their anonymity and secrecy. They go to great lengths to hide who they really are. Being caught in the act would make the act stop instantly.

People here are assuming the rape continued as if nothing had happened and that the kid wasn't 'saved' by being exposed to a third person. I think it's most likely that he never had the experience of knowing McQuery didn't do much of anything. The kid just knew it stopped and hopefully Sandusky never did it to him again. I hope this happened because realizing you were left to the rapist's actions without any help has to be so much worse.

Before you think I'm making excuses know that I was sexually molested at the age of six. I've been through a lifetime of misery over it.

18. I think that's certainly the case
The Grand Jury Presentment is very weak on this point, and probably damned McQueary for life on this critical omission.

I agree that many people here and elsewhere seem to assume that the rape just continued - I'm presenting it as an empty moment precisely because the accounts we have don't say anything about what happened after they all made eye contact. But we also don't know what happened after McQueary left the scene. It just chilled me to the bone that many possibilities were open to Sandusky as he contemplated ways to save himself in that moment.

11. No
I'm saying it's deeply disturbing that the investigation has been unable to turn up who this child is yet. But there are numerous possibilities associated with that.

17. Why would she necessarily know anything about this?
Pedophiles fool everyone, including people who actually catch them in the act. All they do is promise they'll never do it again and most people want to believe them, so they believe them. Wives are usually the very last to know.

21. Ask her because many of the children stayed at their home.
In addition to the many children they fostered several of the victims traveled with the family to away games and other outings. IOWs Sandusky made these kids part of his family.

I don't think it would be that hard to find him if they actually go through the TSM records, Sandusky's computers (although given that he knew the Grand Jury had convened he had months to destroy the evidence), airlines reservations, etc.

Also, Mrs. Sandusky contacted (left messages) with some of the victims just prior to their Grand Jury testimony in effort to influence their testimony. The fact she had contact and knew several of his victims is not debatable.

23. Good points
She needs to talk. One way or the other. So do the foster children.

I think they'll all get a chance. It will be very hard for them. I feel so sorry for all the victims, because even if he never molested them they're still victims. There's collateral damage in ways we can't even imagine. Everyone this man knew or had contact with is a victim.
