3. Go Tammy!
And make sure to maintain a safe distance from Walsh at any debate. The guy is one unpredictable hothead!

7. Walsh is gone from IL 8th whether Duckworth is the Democratic candidate or not.
Walsh only got in due to a perfect storm of stupid. He shouldn't even have been the repub candidate last time.

9. Walsh said he would primary another GOPer in the 14th
too bad - he would get trounced by Tammy.

10. Duckworth has to make it through a primary, too.
And while I think she'd be fine (I'm now in the 8th due to redistricting-- and I'd vote for her), she hasn't got Rahm to push her through like he did in the IL 6th in 2008.

8. I don't think I've ever wanted somebody to win as much as I do
this one. If the people vote for a screaming deadbeat dad over a true hero then they get what the deserve. Come on, Tammy, please win this race. If I never see Joe Walsh again it would be a really good thing.

13. She's Not Running Against Walsh...
The new 8th district was drawn leaving Walsh's house (or whatever hole he lives in) outside the boundries. He's been moved into the 14th district and will have to face off against the incumbent rushpublican congresscritter to hold onto his seat. His only chance is to out wingnut Tim Hultgren the current congresscritter.

Tammy's in the new 8th and is fighting Raja Krishnamoorthi for the Democratic nomination...and the district looks like a Democratic pick up next year.

what her chances might be in that race? I don't live anywhere nearby, but am a fan of Tammy.

16. It's All In The Organization...
I haven't made a decision yet whom to support...Raja has the better organization, including many the support of several township organizations. Tammy's been playing catch up and I haevn't seen any polling on this race in a while. Whomever wins the Democratic primary stands a very strong chance of winning in the general.

There's still a bit of animosity about Tammy going back to her '06 House race as she was the "establishment" (translation: Rahm the evil) candidate and "not a Progressive".

22. Unfortunate parallels to Christine Cegelis in the 6th with Raja in the 8th.
Christine had a lot of progressive support (still does) but the Dem machine picked Tammy to be the candidate. Honestly, Tammy did a whole hell of a lot better than I ever dreamed she could do against that despicable Pete Roskam in such a deep red county. She came very, very close.

I worked on Tammy Duckworth's campaign actually. I really like her. She did very well in the debates against Roskam - could hold her own. She's very smart and was well trained in how to campaign as far as I could see. Roskam hammered her lack of government experience though and I believe the Dem powers gave her the Veterans job to ensure she could overcome that hurdle "the next time".

As for the 6th District, in hindsight, I'm pretty sure Christine Cegelis would have been hammered by Roskam. Dupage County is still too red (this is Henry Hyde's old seat for those of you who don't know - it's THAT red). Not sure about the dynamics of the 8th - probably a bit more blue in which case a Dem win may be assured if you have two good candidates with Raja and Tammy.

Unfortunately I now live in the 14th. Ugh. Randy Hultgren - another Roskam clone, and Joe Walsh. If Foster hadn't been such an incommunicado and reclusive Dem we may have held that seat. Now I really don't know. Hultgren hasn't made ANY waves and is very viable as a Rethug candidate here. The incumbent advantage.....

she will govern just like walsh, only will be smart enough not to offend. We need an antiwallstreet dem to take him on, and she most certainly is not in that category.

Really?

When Tammy Duckworth stands, she stands for a multitude of things.

And she stands very tall.

19. I think the machine is what got her the last time
I think this time around the numbers will be so large as to not be possible to give it to walsh even though I'd about bet that down deep he's hoping the machines pull though for him.
