Democrats or Blue Dog Phony Democrats holding the Democrats' seats. I think they could get some Democratic votes and lots of independents and disillusioned voters who usually stay at home because they have become apathetic.

I would not like to see the party challenge the Congressional seats of truly progressive Democrats.

Why not build a party from the ground-up instead of from the top-down. Elect some school board members, city council, county offices ...

A new party has to deal with ballot access. Then it confronts the problem of many of the people it needs to reach: their political involvement is less intense so they don't read DU or attend rallies, but they're with us ideologically, but they also have institutional loyalty to the Democratic Party. However dissatisfied you are, there are millions of them who won't vote for a third party.

The most likely result of an Occupy Congress Party would be, of course, to split the vote and thus enable Tea Partiers to win with 40%.

If you have the votes to win office in the general election as a third-party candidate, then you have the votes to win a primary, even against the opposition of your local Blue Dogs.
