Why not an Occupy Congress political party?
They could highlight that the Tea Party types and for that matter the entire Right Wing is funded by One Percenters against the interests of 99% of US.

3. A more functional point of view, imo - why not increase our (D) margins in the Senate and the House?
One we hold, barely, and one is held by Republican obstructionists, Tea Party types and other anti-government representatives to the very government they denounce.

6. That would be good for congressional seats in which we have one percenter
Democrats or Blue Dog Phony Democrats holding the Democrats' seats. I think they could get some Democratic votes and lots of independents and disillusioned voters who usually stay at home because they have become apathetic.

I would not like to see the party challenge the Congressional seats of truly progressive Democrats.

8. I have an idea
Why not build a party from the ground-up instead of from the top-down. Elect some school board members, city council, county offices ...

9. Why not some Occupy Congress candidates in appropriate Democratic primaries?
A new party has to deal with ballot access. Then it confronts the problem of many of the people it needs to reach: their political involvement is less intense so they don't read DU or attend rallies, but they're with us ideologically, but they also have institutional loyalty to the Democratic Party. However dissatisfied you are, there are millions of them who won't vote for a third party.

The most likely result of an Occupy Congress Party would be, of course, to split the vote and thus enable Tea Partiers to win with 40%.

If you have the votes to win office in the general election as a third-party candidate, then you have the votes to win a primary, even against the opposition of your local Blue Dogs.

10. Occupy should run in the Republican primaries.
Then if they poach a seat it's occupy versus dems.

That's the way to go. It worked for the tea party. Primaries are our friend.

13. I think the Tea Pottiers have had their moment of fame and what with
their debt ceiling games, all financed by Koch Bros types IMHO, 99% of the electorate are sick of them.

11. #Occupy is post-political. The General Assembly is a form of government, of true democracy.
Let it grow a bit...
