Convicted child rapist sentenced to community service, 100-peso fine (that's less than $25).

Family members of the victim destroyed the courtroom.

Interesting world we live in.

It's been known to happen here... a judge was recently caught handing out house arrest sentences (with monitors that are promptly removed) in exchange for money.

Edit to add: IIRC this became an issue when one of the people he put on house arrest killed someone.

5. Well, here in Argentina...
there are extremely corrupt judges that will do things like this for a couple of bucks. But at the same time, Argentina's done an impressive job of prosecuting the state terrorist murderers, torturers, and kidnappers from the U.S.-backed military dictatorship in the 70s/80s. So it's a bit of a mixed bag.
