Michael Steele: "I know exactly how Caesar felt".
What is with these Republicans comparing themselves to epic figures in history?

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/01/steele-blasts-priebus-for-betrayal-i-know-exactly-how-caesar-felt.php?ref=fpb

Former Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele sat down for an interview with Tim Mak of FrumForum, to defend his record after he was defeated for re-election last week. And for Steele, one sore point seems to be the victory of the new RNC Chairman Reince Priebus -- a former seeming ally of his, who then turned on him.

Mak reports:

"I know exactly how Caesar felt," Steele says, without a hint of irony. "It is what it is." He claims that Priebus had been planning to defect for six, seven, eight months before announcing a bid for the chairmanship. Steele was blindsided. "I trust my friends. Well, I guess the adage is right. In Washington, you should get a dog...We put a lot of resources in Wisconsin over the last two years...that's what you do for team."

Now if he'd said "Caesar Salad", I'd buy it, because he got tossed!

2. Speaking of salad metaphors. He tossed Jabba The Rush's salad
and still got kicked out on his sorry ass. He might as well change his name back to Michael Aluminum or maybe Michael Tin.

3. Et tu, Priebus?

Edit: Priebus almost looks like it could be a legitimate latin word, now that I look at it.

5. Did repubs ever pretend to like him?
 Caesar was truly betrayed by his closest allies. Steele's placement as head of RNC was clearly a ploy from the beginning.

7. The modern GOP is all about getting "tossed."
But in the vulgar British slang meaning of the word -- in airport restrooms, by Washington DC hookers and lobbyists, watching coke can porn with Clarence Thomas :puke: etc., etc.

11. No doubt he means Sid
who seemed to fall out of favor after many years of making America laugh.
Steele hasn't made America laugh quite as long, but some of his stuff has been legendary.
But sadly, like Caesar, America has tired of another funny man.

15. The dumbass actually thought he had real power
There was no way on Earth that those that run the Republican Party would EVER allow a guy like Steele anything but a figurehead position. He was never really in charge of anything.

18. I trhink they really believe their own bullshit-that they are "great statesmen"
rather than bought and paid for tools of the rich.

I'm kind of sorry to see Steele go-he was really amusing at times, even though not on purpose...jury still out on the new guy with the name...
