The U.S. will become a post industrial neo-3rd-world country by 2032.
How the U.S. Is Becoming a 3rd World Country - Part 1
BY RON HERA
http://imagesize.financialsense.com/

The United States is increasingly similar to a 3rd world country in several ways and is accelerating towards 3rd world status. Economic data indicate a harsh reality that obviates mainstream political debate. The evidence suggests that, without fundamental reforms, the U.S. will become a post industrial neo-3rd-world country by 2032.

Fundamental characteristics that define a 3rd world country include high unemployment, lack of economic opportunity, low wages, widespread poverty, extreme concentration of wealth, unsustainable government debt, control of the government by international banks and multinational corporations, weak rule of law and counterproductive government policies. All of these characteristics are evident in the U.S. today.

Other factors include poor public health, nutrition and education, as well as lack of infrastructure. Public health and nutrition in the U.S., while below European standards, stand well above those of 3rd world countries. American public education now ranks behind poorer countries, like Estonia, but remains superior to that of 3rd world countries. While crumbling infrastructure can be seen in cities across America, the vast infrastructure of the United States cannot be compared to a 3rd world country. However, all of these factors will rapidly deteriorate in a declining economy.

7. Precisely. This is a PTB thing, not a partisan political thing.
The corporatocracy has realized it doesn't need the American people any more. Not as workers and, increasingly, not as consumers. All the PTB need this country for is to act as a compliant tax shelter...and that's precisely what they're getting.

I agree that we need a system reboot. Unfortunately, I can't see anything short of a violent one actually accomplishing anything...and that makes me heartsick.

16. Interesting perspective.
The US reduced to "a compliant tax shelter..." I hadn't thought of that being the ultimate goal. But it does make sense given the actions on the ground.

19. Massive noncompliance (civil disobedience) is better than violence.
(Putting aside for the moment that it appears we're not close to that level of solidarity.)

The means always has (even if unintended) effect on the ends. It may be impossible to create a peaceful society using violent methods.

Also, the tools of serious violence are in the hands of the state, and the corporatocracy is currently in control. But if the police and soldiers were to say "we don't work for you anymore," then we'd be getting somewhere.

8. +1
people need to understand that however bad the republicans are - they couldn't do what they do without complicit democrats. we need REAL change and REAL reform. unfortunately nobody running for president on either side in 2012 believes in either. i see #OWS as our best chance for real change at this point. the rich will screw us til we are little more than slaves if we do not stand up and stop them.

12. The people that run the world on a day to day basis
are trained to focus almost exclusively on next quarter profits. If next quarter profits are high, he's going to make a lot of money. Right now. And if that means that in 10 years the company will be bankrupt or in 20 years the country will be in shambles? Well that's going to be someone else's problem.

15. This is a bipartisan problem.
Talk to our President and to the "Democrats" on the Super Theft committee supporting cuts to the social safety nets and vital programs in order to fund the military industrial complex and tax cuts for the rich.

This is not a D versus R game anymore. This is the 99 percent against the thieves in both parties who are looting this country for the profit of the few.

We used to have a lot of factory jobs. We had streets lined with them around here. Both sides of the street. But the last generation had no problem shipping those jobs overseas so here we are.

It's just about distributing the rewards of society.

The U.S.

Not anywhere close to 3rd world

...... i.e. some African countries, Nepal, India, some other Asian countries the U.S. is NOT EVEN CLOSE to those levels of poverty.

20 years is too optimistic, in my opinion. Welcome to DU, by the way!

The United States won't exist in 2032. It will have degenerated into a state of near anarchy, like Mexico is currently.
