BREAKING - Bombshell Emails 'Devastating' for James Murdoch

FALL OF THE HOUSE OF MURDOCH XXVIII: BREAKING - Bombshell Emails 'Devastating' for James Murdoch
by BritFollow

...It's been several weeks since I predicted the dynastic succession was over at Newscorp, mainly because of the independent shareholder rebellion last month, and although James did a worthy stonewalling job at the DCMS select committee this Thursday, that does nothing to stop the three ongoing police investigations here (plus suggestions of a secret 'Operation Millipede' in SOCA - our equivalent of the FBI).

But this morning, a very reliable reporter on the Daily Mail suggested that James' testimony could be blown out of the water thanks to find among the millions of supposed deleted News International emails found on a server in India:
Police investigating phone-hacking at the News of the World have recovered a series of ‘bombshell’ emails which they believe takes the inquiry to ‘a new level’.

The emails were among tens of thousands held by the newspaper at a data storage facility in India.

Police are believed to want to question News International chief James Murdoch and former Sun and News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks about their contents.
Discussions have taken place with the Crown Prosecution Service about whether Mr Murdoch should be arrested and interviewed under caution.

Last night it was unclear whether the emails suggest Mr Murdoch and Mrs Brooks were involved in a cover-up of phone-hacking or prove they had knowledge of malpractice at the News of the World, which was closed in July...

the recent grilling in Parliment by deflecting blame and claiming ignorance. No one believed him but the point was he didn't crack. Quite the accomplished liar that boy. The fact that he lied so well is what makes this so utterly satisfying. I'm just hoping its true that emails implicating him have been found.

41. I'm so glad this is in the UK instead of here
with our bought-off judges and politicians.

This criminal outfit is responsible for untold death and destruction. Literally. There's a chance we would never have gone to war in Iraq. Remember, Fox was the network that called the 2000 election for Bush, and that pressured the others to do it too.

2. This is going to be very interesting! They must not have known about the server in India, eh?
Otherwise it would have been destroyed. I can't wait to see what happens. Our country would NEVER have done as thorough an investigation on their sugar daddy. :(

More scandals will ensure that the Murdoch family empire goes crumbling down as outraged shareholders demand that the Murdochs sell all of their shares to News Corp.

Edited on Sat Nov-12-11 05:41 PM by dipsydoodle
which went print about 18 hours ago - check their online edition and you should find it. Search James Murdoch emails and it should be top of the list.

Its not breaking other than in the USA. The original news is well over 12 hours and if some comedian posts it LBN I'll post a link to Germany has invaded Poland in 1939.

The oddity is that only The Mail is carrying this. :shrug;

12. I have been waiting for more shoes to drop....
as I keep remembering Rebecca Brooks' comments to the News of the World Staff at it's closing:

"Rebekah Brooks told News of the World journalists there were worse revelations to come in the hacking scandal during a heated meeting which saw them vent their fury at her ‘betrayal’.

The embattled chief executive said that in a year’s time staff would all understand why the company had decided to close the newspaper."

"Worse to come"! I have NO doubt more 'shoes' have yet to rain down on Murdoch and his clan.

13.  Outsourcing IT Functions to India Bites Corp. America in the Ass

Maybe if the data storage facility were in country, they could have been able to remove the emails. You are your data, and if your data is not within your immediate reach, then anybody can get to it.

29. I could not agree with you more....
I'm a software support person for a U.S. bank that outsources in India for programming and monitoring/problem resolution support......THAT concept of 'data on a server in India' is what stood out for me as a 'what the f---' moment. Data/processing is supposed to be on our servers here...I wonder how much has been copied to India.

44. I wish I were as optimistic
As some of you here.

Murdoch has gone from using his media empire to prop up right wing politicians and the elite the world over, to getting so rich and powerful that he is now one of those elite.

It reminds me that I used to read with sad pity at posts during the Fitzpatrick prosecution of Libby, that "the cards are starting to fall!" and the like. That Cheney was next and then Bush.
These uber rich megalomaniacs just will never pay for any crime they wish to commit. With billions upon billions together with his connections to politicians, both favors owed and dirt he may be sitting on (from wiretapping no doubt) Rupert has built himself a fortress.

I've lost hope that any of these criminals will get whats due. The thing is to concentrate on what CAN be done. Pushing the OWS tide higher until we truly get money out of politics and have public financing of elections, at the same time bring back something like the Fairness Doctrine to allow a voice from the wilderness that is the left to compete with the likes of Murdoch in order to better inform the public. Work from the bottom up to change things that will eventually curtail Murdoch's ability to influence as he can today.
