Gordon Gekko, from the 1987 movie "Wall Street"
We all know of the character's "greed is good" mantra, which many still subscribe to today. But I just stumbled upon this and found it interesting, and wanted to share.

"The richest one percent of this country owns half our country's wealth, five trillion dollars. One third of that comes from hard work, two thirds comes from inheritance, interest on interest accumulating to widows and idiot sons and what I do, stock and real estate speculation. It's bullshit. You got ninety percent of the American public out there with little or no net worth. I create nothing. I own. We make the rules, pal. The news, war, peace, famine, upheaval, the price per paper clip. We pick that rabbit out of the hat while everybody sits out there wondering how the hell we did it. Now you're not naive enough to think we're living in a democracy, are you buddy? It's the free market. And you're a part of it. You've got that killer instinct. Stick around pal, I've still got a lot to teach you."

~ Gordon Gekko, Michael Douglas's character in the 1987 movie, "Wall Street"

2. No, no, no. Dems are the old men in the park who throw crumbs to pigeons. Repubs are the ones who
shoot the pigeons.

4. No, you got it wrong.
Republicans are the ones who sucker the pigeons into taking out ridiculously high subprime mortgages, then ship the pigeons' jobs overseas, then foreclose on the pigeons' homes when they can,t make the payments, then hit them with deficiency judgments. Then they act surprised when the pigeons rebel (pigeons aren't supposed to be smart enough for that, you know).

3. frightening, isn't it?
but the encouraging thing is that we have collectively pulled back the curtain and are openly pointing out the disparity, and calling it bullshit.

there's no going back...we are awake now
