Poll: Obama disapproval rating on economy at record high
President Obama's ratings on the the most important issue for his re-election -- the economy -- have posted the weakest showing of his presidency, according to a poll released Friday by CBS News.

About 60 percent of voters said they disapprove of Mr. Obama's handling of the economy, the highest on record. Just 34 percent approve of the job he is doing on the matter.

His overall approval ratings are just 43 percent, while 47 percent disapprove of the job he is doing as president.

Among independents, just 39 percent are satisfied with his performance, while 76 percent of Democrats and 12 percent of Republicans approve of his job performance.

1. That's a hell of a big split between Dems and Independents..
I can't imagine why an independent would disapprove so much more than a Democrat.

4. Independents are split right now, between Obama and a Republican. This is way better than two

months ago, when the Republican was getting the lion's share of Independents.

Indies are slowly coming around to Obama.

8. I think there are a lot of people who call themselves Independents who are further to the left
than the democratic party.

we often make the mistake of assuming "independents" are between the two parties, but some people don't find any part represents their economic views and they would show up as independents, too.

5. Don't people understand the congressional republicans ran on creating jobs in the last election?

6. The people also understand that the Republican control only the House.
They can escape all blame by saying they need both House and Senate and the Presidency to do what they want. Right now the Democrats are blocked by the Republicans and the Republicans are blocked by the Democrats. The government is stalemated.

7. Continuing RW-type solutions to RW-created disasters creates only more RW
misery, economic down-turn, and morass which, sadly and sadistically, will be increased exponentially when the RW-inspired cuts to social security, Medicare, and Medicaid take effect, all the while the uber-wealthy and large corporations are protected so they can continue to wallow and suck furtively at the public welfare teat. It is morbidly and obscenely depraved public policy to protect the 1% while, at the same time, figuratively giving the 99% (OWS movement) a middle finger. Such is tantamount to a violation of every tenet of oath of office, fairness, honor, duty, and reason because it strikes at the heart of the promote the general welfare doctrine. :patriot:
