Step by step in Portland as reported on facebook

Apparently a police officer was hit with something and now the police are poised to attack the protesters. The night, up to this point, has been peacefull with about 5,000 people in the streets supportingOWS. The protesters had a midnight eviction notice and people just poured into the streets. It is now 1:56 am and police wearing riot gear have appeared.

1. This is an outrage, really.
Why are they doing this? Why an army of militarized police attacking American Citizens exercising their Constitutional rights?

This country has been destroyed by Wall Street corruption and greed, but not a single arrest has taken place.

This is totally unacceptable and I think it's time for the people to start filing class action lawsuits against those responsible.

I am furious when I see this in a so-called democracy. Who pays their salaries? Who are they working for? We need answers to these questions, exposure of the perpetrators who order this kind of military action against peaceful citizens.

Typical stuff being made up. Occupy Portland is declaring a non-violent victory, though they're hoping it's not premature. I personally expected it to escalate but the cops have largely dispersed.

5. It is not made up stuff. The Army Times reported the plans
to 'deploy' the troops to the 'Homeland' to put down 'civil unrest' and that's exactly what they've been doing, so either they are working with the military, or those cops who were in Oakland last week, hiding behind their robo cop outfits, ARE military.

Those plans were already in place two and a half years ago. Like Europe, they knew there would be unrest when they started implementing their 'austerity' programs and were preparing for it.

This tonight, is unacceptable in a democracy. People have tolerated it for far too long, and became sheep, but not any more.

8. Yes, they stopped them from evicting the Portland Occupiers
just as thousands showed up in NYC to stop them from evicting the OWS protesters. I guess they didn't plan on this kind of cooperation from other cities.

I said 'militarized'. They are not going to start shooting people, especially since 60% of the population supports them. Not yet, anyhow.

I will take the word of the Police themselves that they 'are at war with our own people', over yours. Do a little research, you might learn something.

9. Only thing I've learned...
...is that some people take things so out of proportion that it's incredible. I do appreciate that you accept that they are not going to start shooting people. This isn't the developing world where people who protest do get shot, executed, for protesting against their regime.

11. Yes.
I wouldn't rule it out, but it's highly unlikely to happen in the age of social networks and instant video uploads. In that crowd of thousands there were thousands of cameras following every detail. That means consequences.

Do you think Mubarak would've stepped down if this was the 1970s? Hardly. There would've been a mass execution and the world would've turned a blind eye, as it does anywhere social media still has yet to penetrate (see: Africa, China, other places where media is tightly controlled).

14. It's going too be interesting to see how this world of communication
fares when there is no anonymonty. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=439x2296829
That is rapidly advancing. I think people will shrink up when their real identity is exposed with their comments.

4. Yes, I know, a lot of people have noted that. I think we need to start
demanding answers. Maybe the people need to incorporate, hire some top notch law firms, and start suing where during the disclosure phase of those suits, we might get some interesting information about who is behind this military operation that is directed against the American people.

Those Penn State demonstrators, actually threw rocks at the police, surrounded them at one point and mocked them. Not a thing has been done about that, but an OWS protester stands holding a sign, and they get attacked, injured, hospitalized, arrested and smeared.

Something is wrong here and we ought to start making it a priority to find out what exactly it is.
