#Occupy is about taking back our power.
As DUer LeighAnn said, it's about remembering that WE TELL THE GOVERNMENT WHAT TO DO, not the other way around. It's about remembering that THIS IS OUR COUNTRY, that WE make the rules.

This is OUR time. This is OUR decision. This is OUR country.

4. OWS is about ASKING for power. If OWS were TAKING power back, people would be hitting back
when the cops hit you with a stick or sprayed you with mace.

Until we start TAKING power back, those in charge will not be scared enough to give us any.

5. Only elections can do that...
You can occupy to your hearts content, but if the majority of voters are not sympathetic it won't make the slightest bit of difference. Protests are about shaping public opinion in order to influence elections. If a protest movement can't sway the public at the ballot box, it is a failure. The jury is still out on occupy, but I think it is perhaps having some success so far. The dominant discussion has shifted somewhat from debt to income inequality, and if the latter is what the nation is focused on come election day then the movement will have been a success.
